Melihat hal tersebut, dosen Departemen Teknik Infrastruktur Sipil, Prof Ridho Bayuaji ST MT PhD menggagas pemetaan potensi beton geopolimer yang diyakini lebih ramah lingkungan dibandingkan beton pada umumnya. Hasilnya, pemetaan potensi ini berhasil mengantarkannya menjadi Guru Besar (Gubes) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) ke-127.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ridho, sapaannya, menjelaskan bahwa ia fokus meneliti beton geopolimer lantaran beberapa temuan yang berhasil ia petakan. Salah satunya, geopolimer berpotensi menggantikan peran semen sebagai bahan pengikat beton. Hal ini berbanding terbalik dengan ketersediaan material pembuatan geopolimer seperti silika, alumina, hingga besi yang masih banyak tersedia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Di sisi lain, pria asal Probolinggo menyebutkan,\u00a0 komposisi pengikat pada beton geopolimer tersusun atas reaksi polimerisasi. Meskipun dikategorikan Limbah Bahan Berbahaya dan Beracun (B3), abu terbang tetap dapat digunakan sebagai campuran pengganti semen yang terhidrasi dalam beton. \u201cHal ini lantaran abu terbang dapat mengikat limbah material konstruksi menjadi bahan bermanfaat seperti geopolimer,\u201d tuturnya<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Studi yang telah ia lakukan sejak 2012 ini memberikan ragam manfaat bagi Ridho dalam mengembangkan jejaring penelitiannya. Dalam forum nasional Konsorsium Riset Geopolimer Indonesia (KORIGI), profesor ini dapat bersinergi dengan tim peneliti yang bergerak di bidang serupa. Tidak hanya itu, ia pun berhasil mengembangkan jejaringnya ke tingkat internasional dengan terlibat dalam diskusi Malaysia Indonesia Geopolymer Symposium serta Forum Inovasi Internasional.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ke depannya, Ridho berharap agar ia dan rekan peneliti di bidang serupa lainnya dapat terus konsisten menekuni pengembangan teknologi geopolimer. Hal ini agar dirinya dan rekan peneliti lain dapat memberikan manfaat luas terhadap ekosistem di Indonesia. \u201cHarapan saya, beton geopolimer semakin gencar digunakan dan menjadi alternatif terdepan dalam dunia konstruksi,\u201d pungkas Kepala Laboratorium Material dan Struktur Gedung Diploma Teknik Sipil ini.
