ITS Campus, ITS News – <\/strong>Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) seeked to participate in national economic recovery through technology development. Together with PT Kreasi Mandiri Wintor Indonesia (KMWI)<\/a>, ITS grabbed the role to participate in developing small and medium-sized economies through a memorandum of understanding signed at ITS Rectorate Building on Wednesday (19\/8).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

ITS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari, M.Eng., revealed that this collaboration was initiated by the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti) because they considered ITS to have many technology development programs that have the potential to restore the national economy. “Seeing this, a team was formed consisting of ITS, PT KMWI, and several other universities,” he identified.<\/p>\n

The Rector, familiarly called Ashari, also emphasized that currently, ITS has resources that are engaged in four main aspects, namely automotive, robotics, maritime, and creative design. Through these various fields, it will be further studied and matched to determine which fields are more needed by the community, especially those engaged in the small and medium economies. “Our strength is in the field of technology, so we will fully support it through the application of technology,” emphasized this professor of the ITS Electrical Engineering Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., who was virtually present during the signing of a memorandum of understanding between ITS and PT KMWI on contributing to the National Economic Recovery<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

PT KMWI itself is a company engaged in technology for rural communities through a product called Rural Multipurpose Mechanical Equipment or Alat Mekanis Multiguna Pedesaan (AMMDes). President Director of PT KMWI, Reiza Treistanto, elaborated that AMMDes is a technology to develop the agricultural sector in order for it to remain as the foundation of the economy. “Through this technology, we continue in maintaining our survival, and with the presence of (cooperation with) ITS, it is hoped that we can develop it,” he hoped.<\/p>\n

Reiza also wished that this cooperation will form a strong synergy so that it can contribute more to the recovery and strengthening of the national economy. It is a known fact that villages also heavily rely on the national economy. “I also hope that later we can create other innovations and develop them together, even up to the market implementation stage,” he added.<\/p>\n

In addition, PT KMWI also began to pay attention to the development of the education sector by taking part in creating graduates who are qualified and have capabilities in terms of knowledge and expertise. “We are very open to ITS lecturers and students who want to execute practice work or internship at our company,” he stated.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., Director General of Higher Education, who joined in this event virtually, mentioned that the Directorate General of Higher Education is trying to encourage national economic recovery through the power of campuses. Through creative resources and the work of students, it is hoped that campuses can stimulate the economy. “This activity is expected to have a big impact on the community in the future,” conveyed Nizam.<\/p>\n

He also listed the strategies that will be pursued later, such as developing automotive technology for rural areas, downstream technology products, and maintaining a Penta helix cooperation between universities, industry, government, and the community. “With the current economic condition, it certainly requires our collective encouragement to rise again,” he concluded.
