ITS Campus, ITS News – <\/strong>The COVID-19 pandemic affected the digital transformation of the education world. But with the spirit of open-mindedness and innovation, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) actively implemented online education through ITS Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The first filming of the ITS Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) took place on Monday (10\/8) at the ITS Visual Communication Design Department<\/a>. Bagus Jati Santoso, S.Kom., Ph.D., Head of the ITS MOOC Electronic Learning Management Team, explained that ITS MOOC is a program to provide online lectures or any learning content, which focused on giving open access to the public and have unlimited participation, through Information and Communication Technology.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Bagus continued that ITS lecturers will film their lectures, which will be uploaded on the ITS platform. “Anyone can then access the MOOC material through myITS Learning,” he revealed.<\/p>\n

Through ITS MOOC, teaching and learning activities are carried out asynchronously, where lecturers and students are at different places and times. Participants can take part in learning by watching videos, reading handouts, and taking assessments in the form of exams or assignments. “The educated audiences are not limited to ITS students, but can also be accessed by externals or the general public,” added Didit Prasetyo, S.T., M.T., Coordinator of the ITS MOOC Content Production Team.<\/p>\n

In addition, this lecturer of the Department of Visual Communication Design<\/a> mentioned that participants must follow all the material and take part in the assessment to complete their learning sessions via MOOC. Thus, lectures are conducted independently and participants can determine their own pace of learning (self-paced).<\/p>\n

The ITS MOOC production lasts until early December 2020. ITS lecturers from all departments will take an active role in creating the learning content for MOOCs. “It is targeted that at least 150 MOOC content will be available by the end of this year,” confirmed Bagus. Several lecturers in Aspect IV (Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Alumni), especially the ITS Directorate of Innovation and Science Technology, as well as students are also actively involved in the process of recording, filming, and editing the MOOC content.<\/p>\n

According to Bagus, this activity program initiated by Aspect I (Academic and Student Affairs), especially the Directorate of Postgraduate and Academic Development, has many advantages. For lecturers, the opportunity to be involved in creating MOOC content will certainly bring a lot of new experiences and knowledge, because preparing digital learning content is certainly different from preparing offline material for the class. On top of that, this activity is expected to bring an increase in the experience and quality of learning at ITS in general. “We set strict quality standards and strive for ITS MOOC to have good quality learning content and audiovisual quality,” emphasized this Head of Sub-Directorate for Academic Development, \u00a0under the ITS Directorate of Postgraduate and Academic Development.<\/p>\n

Currently, ITS continues to innovate by accelerating digital transformation in all services, including online exam facilities through the myITS Online Test, online lecture facilities through myITS Classroom<\/a>, MOOCs through myITS Learning, and most recently, ITS is also working on digital laboratory activity. “Hopefully, these innovations will improve the quality of learning at ITS,” he concluded.
