Hal ini menjadi tuntutan di bidang teknik geomatika yang berperan dalam menyediakan data spasial secara akurat dan cepat. Hal ini dibahas dalam acara Pertemuan Ilmiah Tahunan (PIT) III am berbagai kasus. Salah satunya mengenai teknologi survei melalui satelit, <em>hyperspektral.<\/em> Teknologi ini merupakan pengembangan dari <em>remote sensing<\/em> yang telah sering digunakan dalam berbagai hal. Kelebihannya teknologi ini lebih spesifik dalam mengidentifikasi benda yang tampak oleh satelit.<\/p>\n<p>Hal ini sebagaiamana disampaikan oleh kepala BPPT, Prof Ir Said Djaursyah Jenie, ScD. \u201d<em>Hyper spektral <\/em>ini jauh memiliki tingkat ketelitian dalam mencitrakan benda-benda dibumi. Hasilnya warna yang dihasilkan lebih spesifik dan identifikasinya lebih tepat,\u201d kata alumni Teknik Penerbangan ITB. Said juga menambahkan kaitannya dengan pengembangan teknologi. \u201dPerlu adanya kerjasama yang baik antara instansi sebagai pengguna dengan perguruan tinggi mengingat teknologi ini tergolong baru,\u201d paparnya.<\/p>\n<p>Tak hanya itu, peran teknologi survei pdan pemetaan ini juga digunakan dalam kasus yang tengah perkembang, lumpur panas Lapindo di Sidoarjo. Teknologi penginderaan jauh (<em>remote sensing<\/em>) jauh,&nbsp; digunakan untuk pemetaan sebaran semburan lumpu dan perhitungan volume lumpur yang terjadi setiap harinya. Hal ini disampaikan oleh pemakalah utama, Dr Ir Teguh Hariyanto.\u201dDengan citra resolusi tinggi yaitu 2,5 meter, penginderaan jauh dapat menentukan jumlah lumpur setiap harinya. Sampai bulan Oktober semburan lumpur panas perharinya didapat 145.000 m3,\u201d jelas Teguh, yang juga salah satu staf pengajar Teknik Geomatika ITS.<\/p>\n<p>Sementara itu, ketua panitia, Khomsin ST MT, mengatakan harapannya. Selain mengenalkan peran teknologi survei dan pemetaan, acara ini juga terjalin kerjasama yang baik antara Teknik Geomatika ITS dengan pemerintah, masyarakat industri, dan masyarakat umum. <\/p>\n<p>Acara ini mendapat perhatian lebih oleh peserta. Mengingat manfaat dalam meningkatkan kemampuan dan keilmuan mengenai teknologi survei dan pemetaan. Beberapa kampus di Jawa maupun luar Jawa yang juga turut hadir antara lain, ITB, UGM, UNDIP, TRISAKTI, ITN Malang, UNWIM (Universitas Winaya Mukti), dan Politeknik Banjarmasin. \u201dAcara ini mohon diteruskan kelanjutannya dan jaringannya diperluas,\u201d harap Arkadia Rhamo selaku peserta asal Teknik Geomatika ITS.
