Hal tersebut menjadi perhatian Randi Purnama Putra, mahasiswa program doktor Departemen Teknik Mesin Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) dengan melakukan penelitian untuk efisiensi energi dalam sistem tata udara.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Melalui disertasi berjudul Studi Numerik dan Eksperimen Reduksi Pressure Drop pada Square Elbow 90 Derajat dengan Penambahan Circular Tubulator, Randi berhasil sandang gelar doktor usai sidang terbuka promosi doktor di Ruang D-201 Departemen Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknologi Industri dan Rekayasa Sistem (FTIRS) ITS, Februari lalu.<\/p>\n<p>Lelaki yang berhasil menyelesaikan studi doktoralnya hanya dalam tujuh semester ini menjelaskan bahwa saluran udara (ducting) merupakan komponen penting dalam sistem tata udara. Yakni sebanyak 10 persen dari total energi yang dibutuhkan AC. \u201cJika konsumsi energi oleh ducting system dapat dikurangi, maka konsumsi energi AC akan lebih efisien pula,\u201d papar Randi dalam presentasi disertasinya.<\/p>\n<p>Mahasiswa yang lulus sebagai doktor ke-13 dari Departemen Teknik Mesin ITS itu melanjutkan, konstruksi ducting sendiri terdiri dari berbagai komponen penunjang. Yakni ada penurunan tekanan akibat gaya gesek yang disebabkan resistensi pipa saluran terhadap aliran.<\/p>\n<p>Melalui studi numerik dan eksperimen dalam disertasinya, Randi membuktikan bahwa besar pressure drop dapat direduksi dengan menggunakan circular turbulator. \u201cDengan menurunnya pressure drop, maka sistem akan lebih efisien dalam mengonsumsi energi,\u201d papar doktor yang berhasil lulus dengan IPK 4,00 dan menyandang predikat amat memuaskan tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Dipromotori oleh Prof Ir Sutardi M Eng PhD dan Dr Wawan Aries Widodo ST MT, Randi berharap ke depannya dapat mengembangkan penelitiannya lagi. \u201cSemoga bisa dilakukan lagi riset yang menggunakan turbulator dengan berbagai versi,\u201d tutupnya berharap.
