Helmy mempresentasikan penelitian untuk disertasi berjudul Sistem Pencarian Sumber Gas Menggunakan Kombinasi Sensor Gas dan Hot Wire Anemo Meter yang Diimplementasikan pada Mobile Robot.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Menurut Helmy, kecelakaan oleh gas yang kerap terjadi termasuk permasalahan yang cukup krusial dan berbahaya. Kecelakaan-kecelakaan tersebut acap kali terjadi pada gudang penyimpanan bahan kimia, pipa distribusi gas, hingga pada teror gas beracun. Pendeteksian keberadaan gas secara manual dinilai sulit untuk dilakukan. \u201cPasalnya, beberapa jenis gas tidak memiliki warna dan bau,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n<p>Selain itu, tambah lelaki kelahiran Ngawi tersebut, zat gas mudah berpindah dan memiliki sifat menyebar mengisi seluruh ruangan. Berangkat dari permasalahan itu, Helmy mengindikasikan bahwa penemuan lokasi sumber kebocoran gas yang cepat merupakan kunci utama untuk mencegah dan mengurangi terjadinya bencana. \u201cNamun, proses pelacakan gas tersebut tidak dapat dilakukan secara manual karena berisiko besar terhadap keselamatan jiwa petugas,\u201d tutur Helmy.<\/p>\n<p>Untuk itu, menurut Helmy, penggunaan mobile robot hadir sebagai solusi cemerlang untuk menemukan lokasi kebocoran gas secara efektif. Tetapi, diakui Helmy, tak mudah untuk mengoperasikan mobile robot di ruangan yang luas dengan arah angin yang dinamis. \u201cHal tersebut dikarenakan aliran udara yang menabrak benda dan manusia menyebabkan adanya turbulensi mekanis,\u201d papar lelaki yang menyelesaikan pendidikan S1 di Teknik Komputer, Institut Bisnis dan Informatika STIKOM Surabaya ini.<\/p>\n<p>Turbulensi mekanis inilah yang dapat memengaruhi arah penyebaran odor plume (benang yang digunakan untuk menganalisa pergerakan aliran fluida) dan membuat robot kehilangan jejaknya. Adapun yang dimaksud dengan turbulensi mekanis ialah turbulensi yang disebabkan akibat aliran udara yang menabrak obstacle di sekitarnya. Dengan menggunakan metode kombinasi stereo sensor gas dan sensor arah angin omnidirectional, navigasi mobile robot dapat terbantu secara signifikan untuk menemukan kembali jejak odor plume saat perubahan angin terjadi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTingkat keberhasilan robot untuk menemukan lokasi sumber gas mencapai 90 persen pada aliran udara laminer dan 70 persen pada turbulensi mekanis\u201d ungkap Helmy. Sedangkan perpaduan sensor arah angin dengan stereo sensor gas juga dapat mempersingkat jarak tempuh pencarian sebesar 2,4 persen dan mempersingkat waktu tempuh sebesar 45,9 persen dibanding dengan pencarian lokasi yang menggunakan sensor gas saja.<\/p>\n<p>Menurut Helmy, untuk menemukan lokasi kebocoran sumber gas menggunakan mobile robot dengan kondisi angin yang dinamis, diperlukan tiga tahapan. Yang pertama adalah pencarian odor plume, kemudian penelusuran odor plume, dan yang terakhir ialah menemukan lokasi kebocoran gas. \u201cSelanjutnya, dilakukan identifikasi terhadap jenis gas yang terdeteksi,\u201d imbuhnya.<\/p>\n<p>Di saat inilah, terang lelaki kelahiran 17 Januari 1979 tersebut, hidung elektronik berperan membantu mengidentifikasi gas selayaknya hidung manusia. Pada penelitian ini, analog Jaringan Syaraf Tiruan (JST) untuk hidung elektronik telah berhasil diimplementasikan pada Field Programmable Analog Array (FPAA) dengan tingkat keberhasilan mencapai 100 persen dalam mendeteksi uap yang berasal dari solar, bensin, metanol, dan butana.<\/p>\n<p>Apabila digabungkan dengan metode penelusuran odor plume dengan kombinasi stereo sensor gas dan sensor arah angin, maka dipastikan dapat menghasilkan sistem pencarian dan identifikasi kebocoran gas yang bisa diterapkan pada area publik seperti bandara dan stasiun kereta bawah tanah. \u201cPerpaduan metode ini memiliki performa yang lebih baik dan lebih efektif,\u201d tandas dosen Teknik Komputer Institut Teknologi Telkom Surabaya tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Kendati demikian, tak ingin berpuas diri, Helmy berharap dapat melanjutkan penelitian yang telah digarapnya sejak 2016 ini menjadi lebih baik dari sebelumnya untuk dihibahkan ke Kementerian Riset dan Teknologi \/ Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (Kemenristek\/BRIN). \u201cSaya juga akan terus berkoordinasi dengan promotor untuk mengembangkan penelitian ini,\u201d pungkasnya.
