Melihat fenomena tersebut, mahasiswa program doktoral Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) dari Departemen Teknik Sipil, I Dewa Made Alit Karyawan, melakukan penelitian untuk disertasinya yang dipresentasikan dalam Sidang Terbuka Promosi Doktor, Senin (24\/2).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bertempat di ruang sidang Departemen Teknik Sipil, Dewa mempresentasikan penelitiannya mengenai potensi penggunaan agregat buatan dari limbah batu bara (fly ash) dalam campuran aspal beton untuk mengurangi rubber deposit pada permukaan runaway.<\/p>\n<p>Dewa mengawali presentasinya dengan membahas tentang pencemaran yang diakibatkan oleh tingginya limbah dari Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU) berbahan batu bara. Berlimpahnya fly ash ini dapat menyebabkan masalah lingkungan yang serius dan bahkan telah ditetapkan sebagai bahan berbahaya dan beracun (B3).<\/p>\n<p>Oleh sebab itu, pada penelitian ini Dewa ingin mengurangi pencemaran dengan memanfaatkan fly ash tersebut sebagai bahan dasar pembuatan agregat yang biasanya berasal dari pasir, kerikil, dan sebagainya yang digunakan dalam campuran aspal beton.<\/p>\n<p>Lelaki yang berprofesi sebagai staf pengajar Jurusan Teknik Sipil Universitas Mataram ini pun menjelaskan, penelitian ini juga ditujukan untuk keselamatan pengendara atau penumpang pesawat. \u201cPenggunaan agregat buatan dalam pencampuran aspal beton ini mampu mengurangi rubber deposit atau penumpukan karet pada runaway yang menyebabkan tertutupnya tekstur permukaan runaway,\u201d ungkapnya.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_48031\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-48031\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-48031\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-02-24-at-18.07.05.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"724\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-02-24-at-18.07.05.jpeg 1280w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-02-24-at-18.07.05-300x170.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-02-24-at-18.07.05-768x434.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-02-24-at-18.07.05-1024x579.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-02-24-at-18.07.05-355x201.jpeg 355w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-48031\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sidang Terbuka Promosi Doktor yang menghadirkan I Dewa Made Alit Karyawan di Ruang Sidang Departemen Teknik Sipil ITS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lulusan S1 Universitas Udayana ini menambahkan, adanya rubber deposit membuat lintasan menjadi licin dan menyebabkan pesawat tidak dapat berhenti pada posisi yang diinginkan. Lelaki asal Mataram ini memaparkan bahwa agregat buatan ini dibuat memakai alat granulator dengan kemiringan 50 derajat dan menerapkan variasi rasio alkali 1:2,5 antara sodrium hidroksida dan sodium silikat. Kemudian selanjutnya, agregat buatan ini akan diuji dengan menggunakan dua metode pengukuran, yaitu marshall dan wheel track.<\/p>\n<p>Dewa pun juga menjelaskan komposisi terbaik agregat buatan dalam pencampuran aspal beton yang ia teliti. \u201cCampuran aspal beton pada penelitian ini memiliki komposisi 25 persen agregat buatan dan 75 persen agregat alami,\u201d jelasnya. Dalam presentasinya, ia mengungkapkan bahwa dengan komposisi campuran tersebut dapat menghasilkan pori yang cukup besar untuk menampung gerusan dari roda pesawat.<\/p>\n<p>Dewa pun mengakui bahwa agregat buatan lebih mahal dari agregat natural karena material pembentuknya lebih mahal. Oleh sebab itu, lelaki yang pernah menempuh pendidikan S2 di Universitas Brawijaya, Malang ini mengatakan jika riset ini belum berhenti sampai di sini. \u201cKe depannya saya ingin melanjutkan penelitian ini, selain itu pula riset ini masih dalam skala laboratorium dengan kondisi yang mendekati keadaan sebenarnya di lapangan,\u201d terangnya.<\/p>\n<p>Dewa berharap penelitiannya dapat dilanjutkan dalam skala lapangan baik olehnya sendiri atau orang lain. Dalam sidang doktor tersebut, Dewa diuji oleh Prof Dr Ir Triwulan DEA dari departemen Teknik Sipil ITS, Prof Dr Ketut Buda Artana ST MSc dari Departemen Teknik Sistem Perkapalan ITS, serta penguji eksternal dari Departemen Teknik Sipil Universitas Udayana yaitu Prof Ir I Nyoman Arya Thanaya ME PhD.<\/p>\n<p>Tak lupa, saat sidang Dewa turut mengungkapkan rasa syukurnya karena dapat menempuh program doktor. Ia mengatakan bahwa selama menempuh program ini banyak mendapatkan banyak ilmu terutama dari pembimbingnya, yaitu Ir Ervina Ahyudanari ME PhD, Dr Eng Januarti Jaya Ekaputri ST MT, dan Iswandaru Widyatmoko ST MSc PhD CEng FCIHT FIAT. \u201cMenempuh doktor merupakan cita-cita lama saya, dengan ini saya ingin lebih meningkatkan tri dharma perguruan tinggi kedepannya,\u201d ucap Dewa.
