Salah satunya yang dikembangkan oleh dosen Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Dr Ridho Hantoro ST MT, melalui penelitian berbasis hydrothermal carbonization yang mempunyai kelebihan dapat mengurangi massa sampah secara signifikan pada prosesnya.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Penelitian yang dilakukan tersebut berangkat dari permasalahan penumpukan sampah di Indonesia yang semakin menjadi, terutama di kota-kota besar. Pemerintah daerah pun sudah ada yang memanfaatkan sampah menjadi listrik, namun dari beberapa jenis metode masih memberikan permasalahan pengurangan massa yang tidak signifikan.<\/p>\n<p>Dosen dari Departemen Teknik Fisika ITS ini terinspirasi dari konversi nilai energi dan banyaknya sampah yang menggunung di Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA). Salah satu TPA yang mengaplikasikan metode ini adalah TPA Putri Cempo di bawah Pemerintah Kota Surakarta. \u201cHasil proses hydrothermal carbonization akan digunakan sebagai bahan baku gasifikasi dan gas engine untuk memproduksi listrik,\u201d paparnya.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_47102\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-47102\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-47102\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-01-13-at-15.39.07-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-01-13-at-15.39.07-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-01-13-at-15.39.07-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-01-13-at-15.39.07-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-01-13-at-15.39.07-355x266.jpeg 355w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-01-13-at-15.39.07.jpeg 1152w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-47102\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr Ridho Hantoro ST MT saat melakukan risetnya di PLTSa Putri Cempo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Melalui penelitiannya yang berjudul Studi Pembangkitan Energi melalui Pengolahan Sampah Kota (MSW) dengan Proses Hydrothermal Carbonization (HTC) dan Gasifikasi, Ridho fokus menggunakan metode HTC dan Gasifikasi. \u201cMetode ini keunggulannya mampu meningkatkan nilai kalori material sampah dalam bentuk padatan, sekaligus mengurangi massa sampah secara signifikan pada prosesnya,\u201d terang dosen yang menggeluti bidang efisiensi energi ini.<\/p>\n<p>Pada prosesnya, lulusan S3 Teknik Kelautan ITS ini mengungkapkan, limbah dipisahkan dari logam dan material toksik yang ada, lalu dimasukkan ke dalam reaktor HTC. Pada kondisi saturasi biasanya 23 bar harus tetap dikontrol, hal itu juga tergantung kondisi dan komposisi karakteristik sampah. \u201cBisa sampah plastik atau sampah organik seperti sayur-sayuran, limbah rumah tangga, plastik, kertas, dan lainnya,\u201d jelas Ridho lagi.<\/p>\n<p>Lanjut lelaki kelahiran 1976 ini, selama kurang lebih empat sampai 10 jam akan terbentuk bubur karbon (char). Setelah itu bubur tadi dihilangkan kadar airnya, lalu dikeringkan dan menjadi briket.
