Menanggapi hal ini, Departemen Teknik Kimia Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) menggelar\u00a0lokakarya bertajuk <em>Applying Process System Engineering in Clean Energy Research<\/em>\u00a0dengan\u00a0Prof Wei Wu PhD\u00a0sebagai narasumber, Senin (7\/10).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Mengawali pemaparannya, salah seorang\u00a0<em>World Class Professor <\/em>ini\u00a0menjelaskan mengenai desain <em>Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle<\/em> (IGCC). Dalam beberapa dekade terakhir, batubara dianggap sebagai sumber energi utama pembangkit listrik karena ketersediaan dan cadangannya yang melimpah. Untuk menghasilkan listrik dari batubara dengan cara yang lebih bersih dan efisien adalah menggunakan IGCC atau siklus gabungan gasifikasi terpadu.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dibandingkan dengan pembakaran bahan bakar fosil secara konvensional, metode ini (IGCC, red) dinilai lebih baik,&#8221; terang\u00a0\u00a0<em>World Class Professor\u00a0<\/em>(WCP) dari National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan ini.<\/p>\n<p>Untuk menjaga kualitas IGCC dalam memenuhi produksi, ada tiga desain yang hingga kini digunakan. Di antaranya adalah\u00a0<em>Chemical-looping Air Separation, NG-IICLAS-based IGCC system<\/em>, dan <em>Dual IICLAS-based IGCC system.\u00a0<\/em>Lebih lanjut,\u00a0<em>Chemical-looping Air Separation <\/em>(CLAS) sendiri adalah desain yang dapat memasok oksigen dengan kemurnian tinggi. Siklus CLAS ini berkaitan dengan efisiensi sistem dan pengurangan emisi karbon dioksida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDesain CLAS dapat menggantikan sistem konvensional yang mampu meningkatkan efisiensi keseluruhan dari pabrik IGCC dengan menangkap karbon dioksida,\u201c imbuh profesor yang berpengalaman dalam bidang\u00a0<em>process system engineering <\/em>ini.<\/p>\n<p>Simulasi model pada sistem CLAS juga dapat diaplikasikan dalam <em>NG-IICLAS-based IGCC system<\/em>. \u00a0Dimana sistem <em>NG-IICLAS-based IGCC <\/em>sendiri merupakan desain yang fokus pada penggunaan kompresi udara, pembakaran <em>oxy-fuel<\/em> metana (OCM), serta integrasi dua penukar panas dan turbin gas untuk melakukan siklus redoks. Ketiga fokusan tersebut akan menghasilkan listrik tambahan secara bersamaan.<\/p>\n<p>Lanjut Prof Wei, pada alur kerja sistemnya, <em>NG-IICLAS-based IGCC <\/em>berkaitan dengan <em>Dual IICLAS-based IGCC system<\/em><em>. Saat <\/em><em>NG-IICLAS-based IGCC<\/em> menghasilkan listrik tambahan dengan memulihkan panas limbah dari gas nitrogen bertekanan tinggi dan melepaskan gas buang karbon dioksida, secara paralel sistem <em>D<\/em><em>ual IICLAS-based IGCC <\/em>menghilangkan OCM<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Selain itu, profesor yang memiliki ketertarikan dalam hal energi terbarukan ini juga menjelaskan mengenai analisis siklus hidup dan evaluasi ekonomi dari <em>biorefinery <\/em>mikroalga. Sebagai bahan baku utama <em>biofuel<\/em>, mikroalga dianggap mampu\u00a0mengatasi pencemaran lingkungan yang disebabkan oleh kelebihan bahan bakar fosil.<\/p>\n<p>Melalui analisis ekonomi dan siklus hidup, rantai mikroalga hingga menjadi <em>biofuel<\/em>\u00a0dapat memberikan dampak negatif ke lingkungan yang lebih rendah dibandingkan bahan yang lain. &#8220;Selain itu, sebagai bentuk penjagaan terhadap kelestarian lingkungan mikroalga juga memiliki manfaat lain, yaitu dapat mengurangi emisi gas rumah kaca,\u201c pungkasnya.
