Berfokus pada masalah perhitungan muatan kapal, tiga mahasiswa ITS berhasil membuat inovasi alat timbang berupa Container Gross Mass Sensor (CGMS) guna mendapatkan data berat isi kontainer yang valid.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ialah Wahyu Nur Hidayatun Nisa, Agung Purwandoko dan Bustomi yang berhasil menciptakan alat hitung beban otomatis tersebut. Wahyu selaku ketua mengatakan, konsep CGMS ini memadukan antara kontainer dan alat timbang. \u00a0Inovasi tersebut muncul karena maraknya kasus ketidaksesuaian data berat kontainer yang tertera dalam manifes (surat muatan) dengan berat sebenarnya. Kesalahan seperti ini dapat mempengaruhi stabilitas kapal yang dapat mengakibatkan kecelakaan.<\/p>\n<p>Tidak konstannya hasil timbangan kontainer sendiri bisa disebabkan oleh dua hal, yaitu proses penimbangan oleh pihak pelabuhan ataupun kecurangan yang dilakukan oleh pemilik barang. Saat ini, proses penimbangan kontainer masih menggunakan jembatan timbang sehingga hasilnya cenderung tidak akurat. \u201cKarena yang terukur adalah bukan hanya muatan dalam kontainer tetapi termasuk berat truk dan beban lain,\u201d ujar wanita asal Blitar ini.<\/p>\n<p>Penyebab kedua, kata Wahyu ialah kecurangan yang dilakukan oleh pemilik barang. Dengan cara barang yang dimasukkan ke kontainer mempunyai bobot lebih berat daripada berat yang dilaporkan. Hal tersebut dimaksudkan supaya pemilik barang membayar biaya pengiriman menjadi lebih murah.<\/p>\n<p>Permasalahan-permasalahan tersebut pun bisa diselesaikan dengan menggunakan CGMS ini untuk mendapatkan data berat bersih isi kontainer yang valid. Dari data tersebut dapat digunakan oleh pihak pelabuhan sebagai acuan dalam penatan kontainer dan perhitungan muatan kapal keseluruhan. \u201cSehingga dapat memungkinkan untuk menghindari kasus kelebihan muatan di kapal,\u201d jelasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Selain itu, keuntungan penggunaan CGMS ini juga dapat mengurangi kerugian akibat adanya pencurian muatan oleh bajing loncat yaitu pencoleng yang mencuri barang muatan dari atas kendaraan (seperti truk, bus) yang sedang berjalan. \u201cPara bajing loncat ini sering melancarkan aksinya pada saat kontainer berada di perjalanan darat,\u201d ujar Wahyu.<\/p>\n<p>Keuntungan tersebut dikarenakan CGMS telah dilengkapi aplikasi berbasis Internet of Things (IoT) pada <em>smartphone<\/em> dan server. Sehingga dapat memberikan kemudahan kepada pemilik barang untuk memantau berat barang selama proses distribusi sehingga keamanan semakin meningkat. Apabila terdapat pengurangan muatan maka dapat dengan mudah untuk diketahui.<\/p>\n<p>Wahyu berharap inovasinya ini dapat diaplikasikan di ukuran yang sebenarnya dan banyak yang menggunakan CGMS ini. \u201cSemoga CGMS ini dapat memberikan manfaat yang nyata demi kemajuan kemaritiman Indonesia,\u201d pungkasnya.
