Namun, luas wilayah perairan yang lebih besar dari luas wilayah daratan di Indonesia ini pun menyimpan tantangan tersendiri dalam hal riset inovasi maupun teknologi. Untuk menjawab tantangan tersebut, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) bekerja sama dengan PT Karya Prima Anugrah Mandiri (KPAM) guna mendalami riset dan inovasi pada bidang dermaga apung beton.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>PT KPAM menggandeng ITS karena memiliki banyak Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) dan fasilitas penelitian yang memadai guna menunjang penelitian rancang bangun beton apung tersebut. Hingga saat ini, penelitian dapat dilakukan di dua departemen terkait yaitu Departemen Teknik Sipil dan Departemen Teknik Kelautan.<\/p>\n<p>Pada kesempatan pemaparan materi serta diskusi, Ir Budi S Praetyo, Direktur PT KPAM, menyampaikan langsung di Ruang Sidang Rektorat Lantai 1, Rabu (27\/2). Dalam pemaparannya, ia menyebutkan bahwa di Indonesia masih belum banyak pengaplikasian konstruksi beton apung dalam memenuhi tuntutan infrastruktur maritim.<\/p>\n<p>Sejauh ini, teknologi atau cara \u2013 cara konvensional seperti kayu pancang masih sering digunakan untuk menopang bangunan atau konstruksi di atas air. Selain itu, faktor biaya yang tidak murah serta pola pemikiran masyarakat yang sempit terhadap teknologi beton apung juga semakin mempersulit proses pengembangannya.<\/p>\n<p>Sementara itu, di luar negeri, teknologi beton apung sudah lebih maju dan lebih dahulu diaplikasikan. Beberapa diantaranya berfungsi untuk tempat bersandar kapal \u2013 kapal, jembatan apung, dan bangunan apung. Beton juga merupakan material yang mudah dibentuk dan lebih tahan korosi dibanding material baja.<\/p>\n<p>Namun, proses produksi, desain, maupun pemasangan beton apung juga harus diperhitungkan dengan baik mengingat berat jenis beton yang lebih besar dari air laut. Perlu adanya survei lapangan untuk mengambil data-data seperti kedalaman air, layout, gelombang, dan data lainnya. Hal ini bertujuan untuk menghindari kegagalan konstruksi yang dapat memberikan kerugian. \u201cJangan sampai teknologi beton apung tersebut rusak dalam jangka waktu yang singkat,\u201d tambahnya.<\/p>\n<p>Pada kesempatan yang sama, ia menyampaikan rasa terima kasihnya terhadap ITS dan juga antusiasme mahasiswa dalam pengembangan teknologi beton apung di Indonesia. \u201cHarapannya, teknologi ini dapat diperhatikan dengan serius oleh para peneliti maupun mahasiswa ITS, sehingga mampu memberikan nilai tambah bagi Indonesia khususnya pada sektor perairan,\u201d pungkasnya.
