Namun, dampak dari SRM tersebut masih belum diteliti secara serius. Berlatar hal itu, salah satu ilmuwan Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya, Dr rer pol Heri Kuswanto MSi, akan menjadi salah satu peneliti pertama di dunia yang melakukan penelitian dampak SRM Geoengineering tersebut.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ketua Progam Pascasarjana Departemen Statistika ITS tersebut menjelaskan, proyek ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari dampak dari SRM. Aspeknya meliputi perubahan suhu dan curah hujan yang ekstrim. Lebih khusus dari itu, proyek ini akan menyelidiki bagaimana temperatur dan curah hujan akan berubah setelah penerapan SRM di masa yang akan datang.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTim kami akan mengkaji juga mengenai Heat Stress Index (Indeks Tekanan Panas), yaitu batas kemampuan makhluk hidup tertentu dalam menerima tekanan akibat daripada cuaca yang panas,\u201d papar pria yang akrab disapa Heri tersebut. Tim dari Indonesia yang diketuai Heri tersebut beranggotakan dua dosen muda dari Universitas Internasional Semen Indonesia (UISI) yang juga alumni ITS dan satu orang peneliti dari Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG).<\/p>\n<p>Untuk diketahui, SRM sendiri ialah ide yang sangat kontroversial dengan melakukan pemantulan terhadap sebagian sinar matahari agar menjauhi bumi, untuk mengurangi risiko perubahan iklim di bumi. SRM dilakukan dengan cara melakukan bloking terhadap sejumlah sinar matahari untuk mendinginkan bumi, contohnya dengan menyemprotkan partikel-partikel pemantul di atmosfer.<\/p>\n<p>Sayangnya, menurut Heri, hal tersebut masih memiliki potensi yang dapat membahayakan. \u201cJika ini bisa dilakukan secara aman, teknologi ini akan menjadi cara yang cepat untuk mengurangi beberapa risiko perubahan iklim yang sedang dihadapi dunia ini, di mana dunia sedang berusaha melakukan pengurangan emisi gas rumah kaca,\u201d tuturnya.<\/p>\n<p>Heri mengatakan bahwa ia sangat bangga karena proyek yang dikerjakan timnya ini juga menjadi proyek penelitian yang pertama di Indonesia. \u201cMasih sedikit sekali pengetahuan mengenai SRM di sini (Indonesia, red) dan saya berharap kita bisa memulai diskusi yang lebih luas mengenai risiko dan keuntungannya,\u201d ungkap pria berkacamata ini.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36594\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36594\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36594\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2018-12-18-at-12.46.24.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2018-12-18-at-12.46.24.jpeg 1280w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2018-12-18-at-12.46.24-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2018-12-18-at-12.46.24-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2018-12-18-at-12.46.24-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2018-12-18-at-12.46.24-355x237.jpeg 355w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36594\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr Heri Kuswanto saat memaparkan rencana risetnya di depan SRM Experts dan tim lainnya pada Research Planning Workshop di Italia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Doni Setia Pambudi, salah satu anggota peneliti dari UISI mengatakan bahwa di Indonesia sangat rentan terhadap perubahan lingkungan yang disebabkan oleh pemanasan global. \u201cKita perlu memikirkan usaha-usaha lain untuk menanganinya yang salah satunya dengan SRM geoengineering ini, dan saya ingin tahu lebih lanjut tentang dampaknya,\u201d tuturnya.<\/p>\n<p>Penelitian yang dilakukan timnya tersebut, menurut Heri, merupakan satu dari delapan proyek yang dianugerahkan oleh DECIMALS (Developing World Impact Modelling Analysis for SRM) Fund yang dibiayai oleh The World Academy of Science (TWAS) dan UNESCO.<\/p>\n<p>Dijelaskan Heri, ketidakpastian yang besar tentang keuntungan dan kerugian yang bisa ditimbulkan oleh SRM juga berpotensi besar memprovokasi ketegangan internasional. Terumata negara berkembang yang menjadi perbincangan cukup serius terhadap dampak SRM ini. Mengingat negara-negara berkembang seringkali kurang tangguh terhadap perubahan lingkungan dan sangat rentan terhadap dampak pemanasan global. \u201cTentunya berarti bahwa mereka (negara berkembang, red) akan bisa menjadi yang paling beruntung atau justru paling rugi,\u201d imbuhnya.<\/p>\n<p>Heri menegaskan bahwa penelitian ini bukan dalam rangka mendukung SRM Geoengineering. Akan tetapi, akan membuktikan secara ilmiah apakah SRM akan berdampak positif atau negatif. \u201cHal itu nantinya menjadi dasar apakah SRM bisa diaplikasikan ke depannya atau tidak,\u201d tutur lulusan doktoral dari Hannover University, Jerman itu.<\/p>\n<p>Dikatakan Heri bahwa grup peneliti dari ITS tidak akan bekerja sendiri. Melalui DECIMALS, mereka akan berdampingan dengan tim dari Argentina, Afrika Selatan, Pantai Gading, Fiji, Bangladesh, Iran dan dengan beberapa ahli SRM dunia lainnya. \u201cHarapannya, hasil karya kami ini bisa dipublikasikan pada akhir tahun 2020 mendatang,\u201d pungkasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Sementara itu, Andy Parker, project director dari The Solar Radiation Management Governance Initiative (SRMGI) dalam siaran persnya mengungkapkan rasa bangga bahwa DECIMALS Fund bisa mensupport Dr Heri Kuswanto dan timnya. Karena mereka mengekplorasi bagaimana SRM berdampak terhadap Indonesia. \u201cSebagai proyek SRM pertama yang pernah ada di Indonesia, proyek peletakan batu pertama ini akan mengajari kita lebih banyak tentang bagaimana suhu dan curah hujan yang ekstrim dapat dipengaruhi oleh solar dimming dan akan memulai pembicaraan yang lebih luas tentang penelitian SRM serta tata laksananya di Indonesia,\u201d ujarnya.
