Atas dasar itu, Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT) Perpustakaan ITS mengadakan Workshop Smart E-Resources Access to E-Book &amp; International Scientific Journals yang bertujuan agar pemanfaatan dan pemberdayaan e-resources yang dimiliki ITS dapat meningkat, Selasa (12\/22).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Kepala UPT Perpustakaan ITS, Edy Suprayitno SS MHum menyampaikan, perpustakaan sebagai jantung dari perguruan tinggi berkewajiban menyediakan sumber-sumber belajar yang dapat membuat atmosfer perkuliahan selalu berdetak dengan baik. E-resources yang sangat banyak yang telah dilanggan oleh ITS bak pisau bermata dua. Sumber informasi yang melimpah tersebut akan berdampak positif jika dimanfaatkan secara maksimal akan tetapi juga akan merugikan jika tidak disentuh sedikitpun.<\/p>\n<p>Lebih lanjut, menurut Edy, tulisan, penelitian, karya ilmiah yang berkualitas tidak lain dihasilkan dari sumber-sumber yang berkualitas pula. Ia juga mengungkapkan, untuk berlangganan jurnal internasional UPT Perpustakaan ITS sendiri mengucurkan dana sekitar sembilan miliar. \u201cKetika sumber sudah kami sediakan, tinggal para sivitas akademika yang memberikan kontribusinya untuk memanfaatkannya,\u201d tegas pria kelahiran 27 April 1968 silam ini.<\/p>\n<p>Edy juga mengungkapkan, UPT Perpustakaan ITS rencananya sudah tidak akan membeli buku cetak. Menurut hemat Edy, buku cetak sudah mampu memenuhi kebutuhan sivitas akademika ITS. Sehingga, membeli buku dirasa Edy bukan sebuah keperluan untuk saat ini. Terlebih, zaman yang sudah memasuki era digital, dimana segala informasi dapat diperoleh secara masif melalui internet juga menggeser tren penggunaan buku cetak.<\/p>\n<p>Kegiatan yang menghadirkan pembicara-pembicara dari berbagai penerbit jurnal yang dilanggan ITS ini fokus membahas cara penggunaan fitur yang ada pada e-resources. Seperti halnya penjelasan tentang perbedaan fungsi search dan browse pada e-journal, cara melakukan penelusuran simple dan advance, penerapan boolean logic dalam penelusuran, cara mengunduh file e-journal, dan lain-lain. Beberapa pembicara juga sempat menyampaikan mengenai tips dan trik untuk peserta yang memiliki keinginan untuk mempublikasikan karya tulis ilmiah mereka di jurnal internasional.<\/p>\n<p>Melalui kegiatan yang mendatangkan narasumber dari PT. Jasaraya Tama Jaya Buana sebagai vendor jurnal yang dilanggan ITS, Springer, EBSCO, dan Gale ini juga memaparkan bahwa e-resources yang selama ini hanya dapat diakses melalui jaringan internet ITS sudah dapat diakses melalui jaringan internet manapun. \u201cDengan akses yang semudah ini, saya rasa sudah tidak ada alasan lagi untuk tidak memanfaatkan ladang informasi ilmiah ini,\u201d ujar Edy dengan senyum lebar.<\/p>\n<p>Meskipun demikian, Edy berpesan kepada sivitas akademika ITS untuk menggunakan fasilitas ini dengan bijak agar tidak terjadi pemblokiran akses dari ITS sendiri. \u201cSeperti contohnya, mengunduh e-journal atau ebook dengan menggunakan robot atau mesin. Cara konvensional dengan mendownload secara manual merupakan kewajiban,\u201d pungkas Edy.
