Seorang dosen Departemen Teknik Lingkungan Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya, Dr Eng Arie Dipareza Syafei ST MEPM, meneliti faktor yang mempengaruhi pemilihan strategi masyarakat pesisir dalam menghadapi perubahan iklim tersebut agar tetap bisa mencari nafkah dengan baik.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Masyarakat pesisir yang mayoritas bermata pencaharian sebagai nelayan sangat bergantung pada kondisi perairan di sekitarnya. Kondisi iklim yang tidak menentu ikut menyebabkan kondisi perairan menjadi tidak stabil. Hal itu tentunya menyebabkan banyak kerugian bagi nelayan, karena perubahan iklim menyebabkan perubahan ekosistem. Misalnya, kerusakan kawasan mangrove dan terumbu karang. \u201cAkibatnya, keragaman tangkapan ikan menurun secara signifikan dan volume ikan yang ditangkap juga menurun,\u201d tutur Arie.<\/p>\n<p>Dikatakan doktor alumnus Hiroshima University, Jepang ini, untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, setiap nelayan memiliki strategi sendiri. Menurutnya, para nelayan sudah melakukan diversifikasi pekerjaan, mengubah alat penangkapan ikan, memindahkan pancing hingga mobilisasi anggota rumah tangga sebagai strategi adaptasi mereka pada wilayah studi kasusnya yang berada di Desa Tambakrejo, Kecamatan Sumbermanjing, Malang.<\/p>\n<p>Wawasan lingkungan dari penduduk pesisir tentunya berpengaruh besar dalam menentukan strategi menghadapi perubahan iklim. Terutama tentang pengaruhnya dengan ekosistem perairan yang menjadi lahan pekerjaan mereka. Hal itu pula yang menjadi bahan penelitian Arie bersama timnya dari Departemen Teknik Lingkungan ITS.<\/p>\n<p>Selain itu, penelitian ini fokus pada pengertian dan pemahaman nelayan terhadap perubahan iklim. Pendapat mereka tentang dampak yang sudah terjadi, serta profil berupa tingkat pendidikan dan pendapatan perbulan juga mempengaruhi mereka dalam memilih strategi adaptasi tertentu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTapi faktor kenaikan air laut berdasar perasaan mereka serta perubahan spesies ikan merupakan faktor dominan,\u201d tambah Kepala Laboratorium Polusi Udara dan Perubahan Iklim Departemen Teknik Lingkungan ITS ini.<\/p>\n<p>Mengenai proses penelitiannya, Arie menjelaskan, ia dan timnya membuat kuesioner yang diisi oleh nelayan dan pemangku kepentingan yang ada di Desa Tambakrejo. Penelitian tersebut dibentuk berdasar data yang didapat dari 160 kepala keluarga yang merupakan nelayan dan pemangku kepentingan setempat. Studi pendahuluan dilakukan melalui kunjungan lapangan dan diskusi dengan pemangku kepentingan dan nelayan setempat. \u201cTujuannya untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik dasar nelayan, seperti jumlah nelayan dan persepsi mereka tentang perubahan iklim,\u201d tambahnya.<\/p>\n<p>Hasil penelitian ini, lanjut Arie, ke depannya diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan tersendiri bagi nelayan sebagai subjek dan pemerintah sebagai fasilitator pembangunan infrastruktur pesisir dalam mencegah kondisi perairan yang tidak stabil akibat perubahan iklim. \u201cPenerapan strategi pemangku kepentingan atau pemerintah harus diperkenalkan dengan hati-hati dan harus mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor seperti karakteristik, pengetahuan, pemahaman dan perasaan yang dirasakan dari nelayan,\u201d pungkas Arie.
