Kampus ITS, ITS News –<\/strong> Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya diminta untuk membimbing Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA) dalam mengembangkan bidang kemaritimian. Hal ini ditandai dengan penandatanganan Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) tentang kerjasama pembinaan dan pengembangan institusi oleh rektor kedua institusi, Jumat (25\/5), di Gedung Rektorat ITS.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Pada kesempatan ini, Rektor ITERA Prof Ir Ofyar Z Tamin MSc Eng PhD mengatakan, prospek Sumatera di bidang maritim sangatlah tinggi. Dalam perkembangannya nanti, ITERA akan mencoba memfokuskan pada ilmu kemaritiman dan akan membuat prodi-prodi di bidang maritim. \u201cKami melihat ITS sangat maju dan piawai di bidang maritim, khususnya teknik perkapalan, karena itu untuk pengembangan ITERA kami mengacu pada ITS,\u201d jelasnya.<\/p>\n

Menurut Prof Ofyar, sebagai perguruan tinggi bidang teknologi yang baru disahkan tahun 2012 oleh Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Mendikbud) RI saat itu yang saat ini juga sebagai ketua Majelis Wali Amanat (MWA) ITS yaitu Prof Dr Ir Mohammad Nuh DEA, ITERA masih butuh pengembangan di berbagai bidang. Pada penandatanganan MoU ini pun, Prof Mohammad Nuh turut hadir.<\/p>\n

\u201cKami sangat berterima kasih kedatangan kami disambut baik, saat itu Pak Nuh (Prof Mohammad Nuh, red) menyampaikan bahwa ITERA harus bekerja cepat dalam hal kuantitas dan kualitas, oleh karena itu kami mengadakan MoU ini dengan ITS sebagai kakak kami perguruan tinggi di bidang teknologi,\u201d ujar Prof Ofyar.<\/p>\n

Perjanjian antara ITERA dengan ITS ini akan berlangsung selama lima tahun ke depan. Dalam prosesnya nanti, ITERA juga akan mengirim sejumlah dosen mudanya untuk melanjutkan studi doktoralnya di ITS. \u201cKami memiliki sekitar 250 dosen muda, rencananya sebagai tahap awal ada 5-10 dosen muda akan kami kirim untuk melanjutkan S3 di bidang perkapalan di ITS,\u201d jelas pria berkacamata tersebut.<\/p>\n

Sementara itu, Rektor ITS Prof Ir Joni Hermana MSc ES PhD mengatakan, ITS yang juga menjadi orang tua asuh dari Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) juga memiliki tanggung jawab kepada ITERA \u2018saudara kembar\u2019 dari ITK. Pasalnya, kedua institut ini didirikan dalam kurun waktu bersamaan. \u201cSaya sangat senang adanya kerja sama seperti ini, karena belajar yang baik adalah dengan mengajarkannya,\u201d ujar Joni menanggapi.<\/p>\n

Pria asal Bandung ini juga menambahkan, pihaknya akan memfasilitasi penuh kerja sama di bidang kemaritiman ini. Tidak menutup kemungkinan jika diperlukan kerja sama dalam bidang lain, ITS akan sangat terbuka untuk menerimanya. \u201cKami dengan senang hati memfasilitasi kerja sama ini, apalagi ini bulan Ramadan yang penuh berkah,\u201d tutur Guru Besar Teknik Lingkungan ini.
