Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya membuka beberapa departemen spesifik dalam rumpun keilmuan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi, yakni Departemen Sistem Informasi, Informatika dan Teknik Komputer. Namun banyak orang belum mengetahui perbedaan ketiga departemen tersebut. Lalu apakah yang menjadi perbedaan ketiganya?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Berdasarkan pemaparan Nisfu Asrul Sani S Kom MSc, Ketua Program Studi S1 Sistem Informasi ITS ketiga departemen tersebut memiliki peran yang seimbang dalam perkembangan teknologi informasi. \u201cSpesialisasi berbeda namun saling melengkapi,\u201d ujarnya<\/p>\n<p>Pria yang akrab disapa Soni ini menjelaskan, perbedaan mendasar dapat diketahui dari definisi ketiga disiplin kelimuan tersebut. Ia menjelaskan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/id\/kuliah-di-its\/fakultas-dan-departemen\/fakultas-teknologi-informasi-dan-komunikasi\/sistem-informasi\/\">Departemen Sistem Informasi<\/a> adalah disiplin ilmu yang berfokus pada pengolahan informasi dalam pengembangan proses bisnis agar menjadi suatu sistem yang efektif dan efisien.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/id\/kuliah-di-its\/fakultas-dan-departemen\/fakultas-teknologi-informasi-dan-komunikasi\/informatika6\/\">Departemen Informatika<\/a> yang dulunya bernama Departemen Teknik Informatika adalah disiplin ilmu yang berfokus pada pengembangan sistem berbasis komputer dengan segala kemampuan pemrograman, kecerdasan buatan, dan jaringan komputernya.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSedangkan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/id\/kuliah-di-its\/fakultas-dan-departemen\/fakultas-teknologi-elektro\/teknik-komputer\/\">Departemen Teknik Komputer<\/a> yang dulunya Departemen Teknik Multimedia dan Jaringan (TMJ) adalah disiplin ilmu yang mewujudkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi mulai dari mendesain, membangun, mengimplementasikan, dan memelihara perangkat lunak (<em>software<\/em>) dan perangkat keras (<em>hardware<\/em>),\u201d jelasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Soni mengungkapkan perbedaan lain antara ketiga departemen ini, yakni pada mata kuliah yang dipelajari. Ia menjelaskan, Departemen Sistem Informasi mempelajari sedikit perangkat lunak (<em>software<\/em>) dan perangkat keras (<em>hardware<\/em>). Namun, memiliki kelebihan dalam manajemen sistem, yakni dari perancangan, penggunaan serta evaluasi.<\/p>\n<p>Sementara Departemen Informatika sangat fokus belajar mengenai bagaimana mengoptimalkan kinerja subsistem. \u201cUntuk melakukan optimalisasi dan rekayasa subsistem dibutuhkan kemampuan pemrograman yang kuat,\u201d sambungnya. Lanjutnya, Departemen Teknik Komputer banyak belajar mengenai perangkat lunak dan keras.
