Hal tersebut diulas jelas  dalam studium generale bertema Masa Depan Minyak dan Gas di Indonesia. Kuliah umum ini diadakan oleh Laboratorium Geofisika jurusan Fisika FMIPA ITS Selasa (18\/1). Kegiatan ilmiah yang berlangsung setengah hari ini menghadirkan tiga pembicara yang kompeten dengan industri migas. Ketiganya antara lain: Eko Widianto (GM JOB PT Pertamina-PT ConocoPhillips Indonesia), Rahmat Mudjiono (Senior Geophysist PT ConocoPhillips) dan seorang berkebangsaan Amerika Serikat, C.Caughey dari American Assosiation Petroleum and Geologist (AAPG).  <\/p>\n<p>Eko Widianto, pembicara pertama kuliah umum ini dari awal sesi berusaha membangkitkan semangat peserta untuk ikut berpikir mengenai  potensi migas di indonesia. Langkah awalnya, Eko memaparkan mengenai sejarah migas di indonesia disertai grafik. &quot;Indonesia dulu, sekitar tahun 1972-1979 pernah mencapai angka produksi minyak 1106 juta barrel per hari. Namun, jumlah itu kini sudah menurun drastis, dikhawatirkan tahun 2021 nanti tinggal 200 ribu barrel per hari,&quot; Kata Eko.<\/p>\n<p>Akan tetapi, Eko melanjutkan, kekhawatiran tersebut tidak perlu terjadi. Karena menurut hasil penyelidikan, Indonesia masih memiliki banyak titik baik di darat (on shore) maupun lepas pantai (off shore) yang telah terbukti mengandung migas. &quot;Jika di total semua titik itu dapat menghasilkan 5 milyar barrel per hari, semua itu tinggal diambil,&quot; lanjutnya optimis.<\/p>\n<p>Lalu, bagaimana cara kita mengambil migas di titik-titik tersebut? &quot;Nah, itulah pertanyaan yang harus menjadi pemikiran kita sekarang,&quot;  cetus Eko. Selama ini, kegiatan eksplorasi migas di Indonesia peningkatannya masih bergantung dengan kenaikan harga BBM. Itu karena perusahaan pengeboran minyak mempertimbangkan untung-rugi. Iklim politik yang tak menentu pun juga mempengaruhi eksplorasi migas. Terlebih lagi, dari segi teknologi metode eksplorasi sendiri yang  selalu berkembang. Dan, penggunaannya juga tergantung pada kondisi titik yang akan di bor. <\/p>\n<p>Tentunya hal-hal tersebut, masih menurut Eko, masih jadi pertimbangan yang panjang dalam pemanfaatan sumber daya migas di Indonesia. &quot;Dan itu adalah tantangan yang harus segera kita sikapi. Pengembangan teknologi dan SDM mutlak diperlukan,&quot; kata Eko mantap.<\/p>\n<p>Lain halnya dengan Rahmat Mudjiono. Setelah dibuka dengan penjelasan secara umum mengenai potensi migas di Indonesia oleh pembicara pertama, Pria asal Malang ini lebih memaparkan potensi migas di tanah kelahirannya, Jawa Timur. Dikatakannya, Daerah Jawa Timur sangat kaya akan minyak baik on shore maupun off shore. &quot;Di Cepu saja dapat menghasilkan 800 juta barrel per hari,&quot; katanya. <\/p>\n<p>Lebih lanjut, Rahmat menjelaskan tentang proyek eksplorasi minyak yang sedang ditangani PT ConocoPhillips, di daerah off shore selatan Madura. Dari sana, Rahmat mengakui kebenaran  ungkapan gemah ripah loh jinawi. &quot;Bayangkan, di laut saja kaya akan hasil ikannya dan siapa sangka lebih kedalam lagi ada minyak yang banyak,&quot; ujarnya sembari menunjukkan tampilan slide foto saat Ia memegang dua ekor udang hasil tangkapan nelayan Madura. <\/p>\n<p>Sedangkan di sesi ketiga, pembicara asal negeri Paman Sam, Mr. Caughey didaulat memaparkan tentang peluang berkarir di industri migas. Pria yang menjabat Oversight Comitee AAPG ini juga mengupas habis kualifikasi yang perlu dipersiapkan jika ingin terjun disana.
