Kondisi tersebut mendorong tim dosen dari Departemen Teknik Infrastruktur Sipil Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya untuk melakukan analisis pada fluktuasi debit air yang melalui sungai .<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Propagasi alur sungai adalah suatu proses di dalam sungai yang berkaitan dengan erosi di satu sisi disertai dengan sedimentasi di sisi lain, yang berakibat pada bergesernya alur sungai sehingga bisa membahayakan infrastruktur di dekatnya.<\/p>\n<p>Dilatarbelakangi oleh kenyataan tersebut, tim yang terdiri dari tiga dosen yaitu Dr Ir Kuntjoro MT, Ir Ismail Sa\u2019ud MMT dan Ir Didik Harijanto CES ini berhasil memodelkan pergerakan alur sungai guna menentukan tingkat kerawanan bangunan sungai dengan tepat.<\/p>\n<p>Ketua tim, Dr Ir Kuntjoro MT menjelaskan bahwa debit pada suatu sungai tidak pernah konstan, hal ini serupa dengan catatan yang dihasilkan oleh alat perekam muka air otomatis atau biasa disebut Automatic Water Level Recorder (AWLR). \u201cErosi dan sedimentasi juga disebabkan oleh perubahan debit sungai, hal itu berpengaruh terhadap pembentukan dan perubahan dasar sungai,\u201d paparnya.<\/p>\n<p>Penelitian dilakukan pada kawasan sungai Brantas, dengan mempertimbangkan hidraulika sungai, luas penampang basah, kedalaman air dan kemiringan dasar sungai, transportasi sedimen berperan dalam pembentukan keseimbangan geometri sungai. \u201cKami melakukan analisis propagasi alur sungai, sedimen dan geometris sungai Brantas di segmen Mojokerto,\u201d tambahnya.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam kurun dasawarsa terakhir yang tercatat pada AWLR, menurut Kuntjoro, terlihat perubahan-perubahan pola fluktuasi debit yang ditengarai sebagai pemicu propagasi alur sungai. \u201cAnalisis debit dilengkapi dengan data geometri sungai dan teknis tanah yang kemudian dianalisa dengan teori KUN-QArSHOV dan metode Wallingford,\u201d ungkap doktor lulusan Universitas Brawijaya, Malang tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Diterangkan Kuntjoro lagi, analisis yang dilakukan tersebut dapat memprediksikan aliran sungai, debit dan sedimentasinya yang kemudian memunculkan satu kesimpulan bahwa pergerakan sungai dipengaruhi oleh besarnya fluktuasi debit dan geometri sungai.<\/p>\n<p>Kuntjoro mengatakan, hasil dari penelitian ini telah diaplikasikan pada pembangunan sungai Batui di Luwuk, Sulawesi Tengah. Kemudian, di tahun ini juga akan dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut terkait deteksi dini banjir dengan indikator pola fluktuasi debit. \u201cTahun 2018 ini, kami akan melanjutkan penelitian yang sama untuk menyempurnakan hasil dari sebelumnya,\u201d pungkas dosen hidraulika tersebut.
