Padahal kondisi geografis Indonesia menuntut sistem logistik yang baik untuk memeratakan distribusi barang ke seluruh negeri. Menyikapi hal tersebut, Departemen Teknik Industri Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) mengundang pakar dari Jerman, Prof Dr Cristopher W Stoller, untuk berbagi ilmu mengenai kesuksesan logistik di Jerman, Selasa (6\/2).<!--more--><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Berlangsung di Auditorium Sinar Mas Departemen Teknik Industri ITS, dosen Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University, Jerman ini mengungkapkan logistik dapat bekerja dengan baik apabila terdapat manajemen tata kelola yang memadai. \u201cDalam hal ini pemerintah dan perusahaan menjadi kunci keberhasilan,\u201d ungkapnya.<\/p>\n<p>Menurut Cristopher, salah satu indikator infrastruktur yang baik adalah kapasitas panjang dan lebar jalan tol yang memadai. Ia mencontohkan di negara asalnya, Jerman, yang dinobatkan sebagai negara dengan performa logistik terbaik di dunia. \u201cJerman memiliki panjang jalan tol hingga 5000 kilometer. Hal ini adalah faktor penting yang menjadikan performa logistik Jerman menjadi yang terbaik di dunia,\u201d jelasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Selain jalan tol, lanjutnya, Jerman juga memiliki tata kelola infrastruktur dan manajemen distribusi yang sudah rapi. Dalam distribusi barang, Jerman memiliki beberapa cara untuk mendistribusikan barang dengan cepat. \u201cDi antaranya adalah penggunaan kapsul logistik lewat jalur pipa,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam jalur transportasi pipa logistik, kata Cristopher, barang ditempatkan dalam kapsul. Kemudian kapsul akan diluncurkan menggunakan tekanan udara yang sangat kuat. \u201cDengan cara ini, waktu distribusi menjadi lebih singkat,\u201d terangnya lagi.<\/p>\n<p>Ia tak memungkiri teknologi memiliki andil yang sangat besar dalam performa logistik suatu negara. \u201cUntuk itu peran ilmuwan dan perguruan tinggi tidak boleh diremehkan karena mereka adalah pencetak teknologi masa depan,\u201d tegasnya mengingatkan.<\/p>\n<p>Misalnya, di universitas asalnya terdapat banyak sekali profesor dengan keahlian ilmu logistik. Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg juga memiliki laboratorium logistik yang khusus untuk memecahkan berbagai masalah nyata yang terjadi dalam negara tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Oleh karena itu, Cristoper mengingatkan lagi, penting bagi perguruan tinggi agar bersinergi bersama berbagai pihak untuk mengembangkan keilmuannya. \u201cKarena perguruan tinggi memiliki tugas penting untuk mencetak <em>engineer<\/em>\u00a0yang mampu memperbaiki sistem logistik sesuai dengan kebutuhan di Indonesia,\u201d pungkasnya.
