Pemerintah telah menggemborkan rencana untuk mengeksplorasi potensi kilang minyak di Kepulauan Natuna. Sayangnya, impian tersebut masih tersandung masalah korosi pipa bawah laut yang membutuhkan biaya dan tantangan yang begitu besar. Hal ini dibahas dalam kuliah tamu korosi bertajuk <em>Problems and Corrosion Control in Oil dan Gas Pipeline<\/em><em>, Sabtu(18\/11).<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dalam kuliah tamu ini, Ajeng Salindri Wulandari ST MT salah satu pembicara mengungkapkan untuk menyalurkan minyak dan peralatan diperlukan berbagai pipa yang amat rawan terhadap korosi air laut. Ajeng menjelaskan dalam kasus Natuna, pemasangan pipa dalam tanah mungkin dilakukan, namun untuk mencapai daerah pengeboran, pipa harus melalui dua palung laut. Apabila terjadi <em>maintanance<\/em> maka harus ada orang yang melihat ke sana. Resiko kematian sangat tinggi karena letak pipa berada di laut yang dalam.<\/p>\n<p>Sedangkan apabila pipa dipasang di atas tanah laut maka korosi menjadi lawan utama. \u201cWaktu korosi yang akan terjadi jika pipa dipasang di bawah lautan Natuna yakni paling lambat dua tahun. Ini membutuhkan banyak biaya dan kendala\u201d tukas Ajeng.<\/p>\n<p>Efek korosi dalam pipa kilang minyak bisa sangat fatal. Misalnya jika korosi membuat kebocoran pada saluran minyak bawah laut. Misalnya untuk pipa bagian dalam, korosi dapat dicegah dengan <em>flow assurance. <\/em>Sedangkan untuk bagian luar pipa menggunakan cara <em>external coating.<\/em> <em>External coating<\/em> dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai pertimbangan pada sifat <em>coating<\/em>. Misalnya fleksibilitas, resistensi terhadap absorpsi laut, bahan kimia di air laut, <em>cathodic disbondment, <\/em>benturan, abrasi, cuaca, dan kompabilitas dengan proteksi katodik.<\/p>\n<p>Namun teknologi tersebut masih belum bisa menyelesaikan permasalahan korosi jangka panjang di laut Natuna. Hal ini karena perairan Natuna memiliki keasaman yang tingi. Sehingga diperlukan berbagai eksplorasi teknologi yang membutuhkan banyak biaya.<\/p>\n<p>Carta Kharisma ST, <em>inspection engineer <\/em>di Vico Indonesia menambahi sebagai calon <em>engineer<\/em> di masa depan, mahasiswa ITS harus mampu menemukan teknologi terbaru untuk melawan korosi pipa di bawah laut. \u201cTeknologi China sudah bisa menemukan cara mengatasi korosi di bawah laut. Namun teknologi Indonesia belum sampai sana. Tantangan bagi mahasiswa ITS adalah mampu menemukan teknologi yang seperti itu.\u201d Ujarnya menyemangati.<\/p>\n<p>Oleh karena itu ia mengigatkan mahasiswa ITS sebagai <em>real engineer<\/em> dan sebagai calon <em>engineer<\/em> masa depan untuk terus berinovasi. Hal ini karena kesejahteraan Indonesia berada di pundak pemuda masa kini. \u201cKorosi bawah laut ini masih menyisakan banyak permasalahan yang menghambat eksplorasi minyak Indonesia.
