Natya memaparkan, penghargaan ini dinilai paling tinggi karena diberikan pada tim yang benar-benar menjalani lomba sesuai filosofinya. ”Tidak hanya bertanding di race, namun juga menjalankan tradisi boat building, fairplay, dan menjalin pertemanan antarnegara,” paparnya.
 
Penghargaan ini merupakan kali ketiga yang diraih oleh MCI dalam ajang ACI Atlantic Challenge. Penghargaan tersebut pertama kali diraih tim pada 2002 yang digelar di Rockland-USA dan selanjutnya pada 2012 di Bantry-Irlandia. Baru Tim Indonesia yang berhasil meraih penghargaan ini sebanyak dua kali berturut-turut.
 
Natya menyebut, pada ajang yang digelar setiap dua tahun sekali itu, terdapat lima kategori tropi penghargaan. Kelima penghargaan tersebut meliputi, Atlantic Challenge Trophy, John Kerr Trophy, Spirit of Atlantic Challenge Trophy, Lance Lee Trophy, dan L’Esprit.
 
”Penghargaan ini menjadi begitu prestisius karena penilaian dilakukan dengan cara voting dari peserta dan panitia. Peserta tampak sangat senang karena kompetisi sudah selesai. Mereka saling membaur meskipun dari negara dan budaya yang berbeda-beda,” tutur mahasiswi Jurusan Teknik Sistem Perkapalan itu.
