Penyebab kekalahan robot ASKAF-i ITS (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember) di Asia Pasific Broadcasting Unit (ABU) Robocon di China 27–28 Agustus lalu, dibeber kemarin. "Lapangan tengah di arena kontes ternyata lebih tinggi sekitar dua milimeter dari desain yang kami siapkan," kata Sigit Hardiyono, ketua tim ASKAF-i di hadapan sekitar 400 mahasiswa baru PENS (Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya)-ITS. "Faktor itu menjadi salah satu penyebab robot otomatis yang kami siapkan untuk mengumpulkan nilai di tengah lapangan tidak berfungsi," lanjutnya.<\/p>\n

Sebenarnya tim ASKAF-i sudah berusaha mengubah desain awal untuk menyesuaikan dengan tinggi lapangan tengah yang mirip gundukan itu. Tapi, setelah desain selesai, kesempatan melakukan uji coba ternyata habis. "Pada kontes di Bejing ini memang sering terjadi perubahan peraturan mendadak dan baru diberitahukan beberapa saat menjelang acara dimulai. Termasuk kesempatan melakukan uji coba yang hanya boleh dilakukan sekali untuk waktu 12 menit," kata Sigit.<\/p>\n

Itu sangat berbeda dibanding aturan kontes robot internasional sebelumnya. "Hal inilah yang tidak kami antisipasi," ujarnya. Tim ASKAF-i ITS -sebagaimana diberitakan-hanya meraih penghargaan Best Artistic Design Award dalam kontes tersebut. Mereka kalah dari tim Jepang di perempat final, setelah sebelumnya mengalahkan tim Nepal. <\/p>\n

Hadir dalam paparan tersebut formasi lengkap tim ASKAF-i Sigit Hardiyono (ketua tim), Kristian Ari Prasetya (driver manual), Arif Zuhananto (operator otomatis), Fuad Hasan dan Adnan Rahmad, mekanik robot.<\/p>\n

Dalam kesempatan itu tim juga memutar video robot-robot lawan mereka. "Kita ingin mereka (mahasiswa baru.Red) punya keinginan untuk mengikuti jejak mencipta robot yang lebih bagus," ujar Sigit. (ris\/rth)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
