BYEE Indonesia sendiri merupakan sebuah program yang diperuntukan untuk pemuda Indonesia, khususnya bagi mereka yang care<\/em> terhadap lingkungan. Para peserta yang mendaftar pada program ini juga diharuskan untuk membuat sebuah proposal terkait isu penyelamatan lingkungan.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Sejauh ini, hasil seleksi yang di dapat adalah terjaring 12 besar peserta yang akan bersiap menjalani proses penjurian, termasuk Arif. Nantinya, diantara para finalis tersebut akan diseleksi kembali hingga didapat dua besar untuk dikirim ke BYEE International<\/em> di Leverkusen, Jerman.<\/div>\n

Lebih lanjut, karya yang diajukan Arif berupa pemanfaatan sekam padi sebagai styrofoam<\/em>. Ia mengatakan, sekam padi dinilai memiliki nilai konduktivitas yang hampir sama dengan styrofoam<\/em>. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Dengan kata lain, sekam padi dapat dijadikan isolator panas seperti halnya styrofoam<\/em>,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ujarnya.<\/div>\n

Tak sendiri menggarap alat ini, Arif pun dibantu oleh teman-teman yang tergabung dalam timnya. Mereka adalah Muhammad Fahmi, Angga Pradikta, M. Maktum Muharja, dan Dita Ahmeta.<\/div>\n

Ditanyai mengenai alasan memilih ide tersebut ia menjawab karena styrofoam<\/em> merupakan bahan non-biodegredable<\/em>. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Jadi butuh 500 tahun untuk terurai,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ungkapnya yakin proposal ini dapat mewakili ITS hingga tahap final.<\/div>\n

Dengan banyaknya proposal yang diajukan, gelaran ini pun berlangsung cukup lama, Juni hingga Nopember. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Tiga bulan pertama adalah tahap realisasi alat lalu dilanjutkan dengan penjurian dan pengiriman delegasi ke Jerman,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d tambah mahasiswa angkatan 2009 ini.<\/div>\n

Dalam perjalannya menuju 12 besar, ia juga bercerita kerap menemui peristiwa lucu. Saat tes wawancara misalnya, ia ditanyai kenapa bisa memiliki kemampuan berbahasa Inggris yang baik. Ia pun menjawab sempat belajar di Pare, Kediri. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Tapi tidak tahu kenapa penguji malah berfikir itu Pare, Perancis,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d tuturnya sambil tersenyum mengingat kejadian tersebut.<\/div>\n

Ke depan, ia pun berharap karyanya mampu mewakili ITS di kancah internasional. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Soalnya ini kali pertama ITS bisa lolos ke final BYEE,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d jawabnya ketika berbalas email<\/em> dengan ITS Onine, (21\/7).
