Selain dibatasinya daya baterai tersebut, pembina Tim Bathara Surya Andhika Estiyono MT juga mengungkapkan bahwa kapasitas solar panel yang digunakan&nbsp; ITS juga tidak seberapa. &quot;Kami menggunakan solar panel berkapasitas 100 watt, artinya relatif kecil,&quot; terang Dosen Jurusan Despro ITS ini.<\/p>\n<p>Karena terbatasnya sumber daya tersebut, maka kapal pun harus didesain dengan bobot yang seringan mungkin agar tidak boros energi. Meski demikian, dibatasinya kapasitas baterai tidak terlalu mengusik Triton. Pasalnya pada kategori <em>Slalom<\/em> jarak yang ditempuh tidak terlalu jauh. <\/p>\n<p>Andhika melanjutkan bahwa pemangkasan bobot tersebut disiasati dengan jalan mengganti material kapal dengan <em>fiber glass, fiber carbon<\/em>, dan <em>poliuretan foam<\/em> yang relatif lebih ringan. Selain itu minimalisasi struktur kapal agar lebih ramping namun tetap kuat juga turut dilakukan. Alhasil kapal yang semula memiliki bobot 50 kilogram ini kini telah berhasil dipangkas hingga mencapai angka 12 kilogram.<\/p>\n<p>Kompetisi ini akan berlangsung selama dua hari sejak Sabtu (6\/8) mendatang, namun Tim akan berangkat dalam dua gelombang yakni pada tanggal dua dan lima agustus. Rencananya jeda waktu sebelum berangkat ini akan dimanfaatkan untuk kembali melakukan uji coba kapal.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Dari waktu yang tersisa ini, akan kami coba optimalkan lagi performansi kapalnya. Kita akan cari tempat yang lintasannya cukup panjang, kalau bisa hingga sepuluh kilometer. Supaya daya tahan kapal dapat diukur dengan lebih cermat,&quot; terang Andhika.<\/p>\n<p>Menurut Andhika, tujuan dari uji coba ini semata-mata untuk dapat menentukan ukuran propeler yang paling tepat. &quot;Akibat dibatasinya daya baterai, ketepatan ukuran propeler menjadi sangat menentukan,&quot; tuturnya.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Kalau hanya ngomongin <em>top speed<\/em>, kapal ini bisa melaju hingga 30 sampai 40 kilometer per jam. Yaitu dengan jalan memperbesar ukuran propeler, namun hal tersebut akan mengakibatkan daya baterai terkuras dalam waktu singkat,&quot; terangnya.<\/p>\n<p>Begitu pula ukuran propeler yang terlalu kecil juga tidak efektif. Meski memakan daya yang lebih kecil, namun laju kapal akan menjadi sangat lambat. &quot;Kalau lajunya lambat, baterai akan bekerja lebih lama dan pada akhirnya akan kehabisan daya juga,&quot; papar Andhika.<\/p>\n<p>Senada dengan Andhika, ketua Tim Bathara Surya <em>Solar Boat <\/em>ITS, Dwiko Hardianto mengungkapkan bahwa kesulitan terbesar dalam Tim adalah pengaturan material, solar panel, motor, gigi rasio hingga riset propeler agar benar-benar efisien dan optimal terhadap penggunaan daya.<\/p>\n<p>Dwiko juga menerangkan bahwa keunggulan kapal ITS dibandingkan kapal-kapal dari negara lain adalah kestabilannya yang tinggi saat melaju di arena. &quot;Mereka memang cepat tapi kurang stabil, saat menemui sedikit tikungan biasanya akan langsung terbalik.
