Nanoteknologi adalah ilmu yang mempelajari obyek yang ukurannya sangat kecil (ukuran nano, red). <\/p>\n<p>Ukuran yang begitu kecil ini justru memiliki potensi sangat besar dalam memberikan jawaban dan penyelesaian berbagai masalah kompleks di dunia. Banyak bidang yang sudah mengaplikasikan nanoteknologi, mulai dari sains, teknik, pertanian, konservasi energi, hingga kesehatan.<\/p>\n<p>Profesor yang akrab disapa Franco itu mengatakan, dalam bidang kesehatan molekul dalam skala nano bisa dimanfaatkan dalam bebagai fungsi. Misalnya adalah untuk mendeteksi kanker dan menghantarkan obat langsung menuju sel target. Bahkan menurut pakar Nanobioteknologi dan Biologi Molekuler tersebut, molekul skala nano juga dapat diaplikasikan untuk menciptakan obat dalam melawan penyakit genetik, seperti diabetes melitus.<\/p>\n<p>Salah satu contohnya, nanomolekul dapat dibuat dalam bentuk vesikel, yang merupakan agregrat supramolekular di dalam sel. &quot;Vesikel ini dapat memperbaharui gen yang rusak dengan cara memasukannya ke dalam RNA yang selanjutnya akan ditranslasikan menjadi protein. Vesikel ini dapat menjadi salah satu bentuk terapi untuk pengobatan,&quot; terangnya.<\/p>\n<p>Menurutnya, nanoteknologi di negara berkembang seperti Indonesia masih belum banyak dikenal. Ia berharap melalui kegiatan seperti ini, para mahasiswa bisa memperoleh pengetahuan luas mengenai nanoteknologi dan tertarik untuk melakukan riset di dalamnya. Meskipun diakuinya ilmu nanoteknologi sedikit lebih kompleks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Impakt dan Kolaborasi Riset&nbsp;<br \/><\/strong>Saat ditemui ITS Online, Franco tertarik untuk melakukan kerjasama lebih lanjut dengan ITS, baik dalam bidang riset jenjang doktoral maupun pertukaran mahasiswa. Meskipun tujuan ia datang ke ITS adalah sebagai bagian dari program Impakt, yaitu sebuah program pertukaran dosen dari Erasmus Mundus.<\/p>\n<p>Senada dengan Franco, Dr Dewi Hidayati SSi MSi, Ketua Jurusan Biologi ITS menyatakan sedang menyiasati pembuatan nota kesepahaman dengan Sapienza University. Program yang bisa diikuti salah satunya adalah pertukaran mahasiswa. &quot;ITS butuh banyak mahasiswa yang bisa belajar ke negara lain agar kolaborasi bisa berjalan,&#8221; ujar Dewi.<\/p>\n<p>Seperti diketahui, ITS adalah satu-satunya perguruan tinggi di Indonesia yang tergabung dalam program Impakt. Sehingga Dewi melihat ini menjadi kesempatan yang sangat besar bagi mahasiswa ITS untuk bisa mengikuti program Impakt. &#8221;Saingannya ya sama anak ITS saja,&#8221; urainya.<\/p>\n<p>Selain diikuti mahasiswa Jurusan Biologi, stadium general tersebut juga diikuti dari jurusan lain, seperti Kimia dan Teknik Biomedik.&quot;Saya berharap mahasiswa bisa saling berbagi pengetahuan, karena sebenarnya masing-masing disiplin ilmu itu saling terkait,&quot; tegas doktor yang bergelut dengan fisiologi hewan itu.
