Sampah elektronik (e-waste) adalah limbah yang berasal dari peralatan elektronik yang telah rusak, bekas, dan tidak dipakai lagi oleh pemiliknya. Sampah elektronik merupakan jenis limbah yang pertumbuhannya paling tinggi tiap tahunnya. <\/p>\n

Berdasarkan situs forbes, di tahun 2014 Norwegia menjadi negara penyumbang sampah elektronik terbanyak dengan 62.4 lbs per kapita. Disusul Swiss dan Islandia. "Manusia dapat menghasilkan 20 hingga 50 ton sampah elektronik setiap tahunnya," ungkap Prof Jhy-Chern Liu, pembicara dalam acara tersebut. <\/div>\n

Dirinya menambahkan, e-waste mengambil peranan besar terhadap kelangsungan bumi. "Dalam setiap e-waste terkandung material dan logam berbahaya dan beracun bagi manusia serta lingkungannya," jelas Dosen NTUST ini. Jika tidak diolah dengan baik, e-waste dapat menyebabkan pencemaran dan kerusakan lingkungan.<\/div>\n

Untuk menanggulangi hal tersebut perlu dilakukan daur ulang pada perangkat elektronik agar tidak membahayakan lingkungan. "Cara mendaur ulang perangkat elektronik adalah dengan membongkar perangkatnya serta mengambil chip-chip yang dapat digunakan lagi," terang dirinya. <\/div>\n

Selain menjelaskan tata cara daur ulang perangkat elektronik yang baik dan benar. Liu juga menerangkan peraturan tentang pembatasan penggunaan bahan berbahaya dalam perangkat elektronik.
