Salah satu panitia acara Muhammad Sholikhan Arif ST MT mengatakan bahwa ICSOT Indonesia 2015 termasuk spesial. Sebab, gelaran yang telah empat kali dihelat ini sekaligus untuk memperingati hari jadi RINA yang ke-10. Tak heran, Direktur Eksekutif RINA Trevor Blakeley pun hadir dan turut menjadi moderator pada sesi konferensi. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Seluruh undangan juga akan menghadiri gala dinner spesial memperingati hari spesial RINA ini,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d jelasnya.<\/div>\n

Dosen Jurusan Teknik Perkapalan (JTP) ITS ini menambahkan, tema yang diangkat, yakni Development in Ship Design and Construction<\/em>, merupakan keputusan RINA. Hal ini berdasarkan topik terkini yang sedang hangat di keilmuan Teknik Perkapalan. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Nantinya, hasil konferensi akan dipublikasikan dalam bentuk jurnal internasional,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ujar pengajar mata kuliah Bisnis Perkapalan ini.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Lebih lanjut, kegiatan ini dihadiri oleh berbagai pihak, termasuk perusahaan perkapalan ClassNK, Hempel, dan PT. PAL Indonesia. Mereka diharapkan dapat membagi hasil penelitian dan inovasi terbaru di perusahaannya. Beberapa alumni JTP yang telah berkarir di dunia perkapalan pun juga terlihat hadir. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Harapannya agar mahasiswa JTP bisa menambah wawasan sekaligus relasinya,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  ucap Sholikhan.<\/div>\n

Selain materi yang disampaikan oleh pembicara kunci, ada pula presentasi jurnal. Dari puluhan jurnal yang mendaftar, terdapat 15 jurnal yang terpilih untuk dipresentasikan. Tak hanya berasal dari Indonesia, beberapa presenter<\/em> bahkan berasal dari Korea Selatan, Jepang, Denmark, dan afiliasi negara lain. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Mayoritas mereka merupakan mahasiswa magister dan doktoral yang berkewajiban mempresentasikan risetnya di seminar internasional,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  tutur pria kelahiran Gresik ini. <\/div>\n

Modernisasi Kapal Tradisional<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Adalah Dr Ir Sunaryo MSc, dosen JTP Universitas Indonesia yang menjelaskan jurnalnya mengenai modernisasi kapal tradisional Indonesia. Menurutnya, kapal tradisional memegang peran penting untuk transportasi antarpulau, khususnya di Indonesia yang memiliki ribuan pulau kecil. Namun, eksistensi kapal tradisional ini semakin mengkhawatirkan. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sebab, bahan bakunya mulai langka, keamanannya tidak terjamin, dan tidak dapat diasuransikan,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d kata Sunaryo.<\/div>\n

Melihat fenomena ini, ia pun merancang sebuah desain kapal tradisional yang mengadopsi konstruksi, teknik pembangunan, dan standar kapal modern. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sehingga kapal ini akan lebih aman, terjangkau, dan berkelas tanpa menanggalkan ciri tradisionalnya,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  jelas pria yang menempuh program doktornya di Skotlandia ini.<\/div>\n

Inovasi yang ia terapkan ialah penggunaan bahan baku alternatif, yakni bambu dan kayu laminasi. Material tersebut dipilih karena sifatnya yang hampir sama dengan kayu, namun lebih terjangkau dan ramah lingkungan. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sedangkan konstruksi lambung kapal besi dibuat seperti biasa, namun dibagi dahulu dalam beberapa bagian untuk kemudian disatukan di galangan,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d pungkasnya.
