Perkembangan IoT pun tak lepas dari kebutuhan manusia saat ini. &quot;Menurut survei, jumlah alat yang terhubung dengan internet adalah tiga kali jumlah populasi dunia. Artinya, IoT berpeluang besar untuk berkembang,&quot; ungkap Tiyo.<\/p>\n<p>Salah satu aplikasi IoT yang sedang gencar digarap perkembangannya ialah <em>Smart City<\/em>. Beberapa kota di Indonesia pun mulai menerapkannya, yakni Jakarta, Bandung dan Makassar. Menurut Tiyo, <em>Smart City <\/em>dapat diterapkan di segala aspek, mulai dari perencanaan dan manajemen, infrastruktur, hingga pelayanan masyarakat. &quot;Contohnya ialah dalam pengaturan transportasi umum. IoT memungkinkan masyarakat untuk memeriksa jadwal dan memesan tiket kendaraan hanya dengan telepon genggamnya,&quot; jelas lulusan Jurusan Teknik Informatika ITS tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Meski begitu, diakui Tiyo, IoT tak lepas dari risiko keamanan sistem. Hal ini pun menjadi salah satu fokus utama dalam pengembangan IoT. &quot;Selain menambah beberapa fitur keamanan dan mengintegrasikan seluruh sistem, penyesuaian peraturan pemerintah juga dapat mendukung keamanan sistem IoT,&quot; ujar Tiyo.<\/p>\n<p>Pada sesi lain, adalah Firstman Marpaung dan Narendra Wicaksono yang berkesempatan menyampaikan materi. Firstman yang berkecimpung di Software and Service Group Intel Corporation ini menjelaskan bagaimana perusahaannya mengembangkan IoT. &quot;Otak kita sebenarnya mirip dengan <em>processor<\/em>. Sehingga, kami sedang mengembangkan alat agar memiliki mata, telinga, suara, dan emosi seperti halnya manusia,&quot; ungkapnya.<\/p>\n<p>Misi yang diangkat ialah mewujudkan alat yang natural, dengan menggunakan indera manusia dan alat untuk berinteraksi. Selanjutnya ialah <em>intuitive<\/em> dan <em>immerssive, <\/em>yakni alat yang mudah digunakan dan dipahami oleh manusia, serta menghilangkan sekat antara manusia dan mesin. &quot;Konsep teknologi yang seperti ini yang akan dibutuhkan di 2018 mendatang,&quot; tuturnya yakin.<\/p>\n<p>Lain halnya dengan Narendra Wicaksono, <em>co-founder<\/em> Dicoding Indonesia. Selain menjelaskan peluang produk IoT di Indonesia, ia juga membagikan tiga hal penting untuk menjaga keberlangsungan sebuah <em>start-up business<\/em>, khususnya di bidang IoT. Pertama adalah menciptakan produk, baik perangkat keras maupun lunak, yang memiliki nilai tambah dan berbeda dengan yang lain. Membangun <em>branding<\/em> pun diakui Narendra menjadi hal penting selanjutnya. &quot;Terakhir adalah melakukan analisis, apakah produk kita benar-benar dibutuhkan oleh masyarakat? Jika tidak, maka inovasi wajib dilakukan,&quot; tandasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Sementara itu, Ridho Perdana, ketua pelaksana, mengaku bahwa acara tahunan ini diselenggarakan setelah melihat besarnya kebutuhan IoT di era <em>modern<\/em> seperti sekarang. Menurutnya, hal ini dapat memberi peluang besar kepada mahasiswa untuk turut menciptakan teknologi berbasis IoT. &quot;Karena mayoritas peserta adalah mahasiswa yang menggeluti <em>Information and Technology <\/em>(IT), kami berharap mereka bisa mengambil ilmu sebanyak-banyaknya untuk diterapkan,&quot; ujarnya.
