Ini disebabkan terdapat beberapa calon mahasiswa baru yang lolos Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SNMPTN) namun tidak melanjutkan ke proses verifikasi dan daftar ulang. Sehingga, kursi yang kosong tersebut kemudian dialihkan ke jalur SBMPTN dan otomatis menambah peluang untuk diterima sebagai mahasiswa baru.<\/p>\n<p>Sebelumnya, pada jalur SNMPTN, ITS telah memiliki 1607 mahasiswa baru. Jumlah tersebut merupakan 50 persen dari total mahasiswa baru ITS 2015 yang ditargetkan. Sisanya, sebanyak 20 persen nantinya akan dialokasikan pada jalur terakhir yakni Program Kemitraan dan Mandiri (PKM) yang seleksinya menggunakan nilai SBMPTN.<\/p>\n<p>Dikatakan Dr Dra Ismaini Zain M Si, <span class=&quot;st&quot;>Ketua Humas SNMPTN Panlok Surabaya, <\/span>pada pelaksanaan SBMPTN 2015 ini terdapat peningkatan jumlah pendaftar yang memilih ITS sebagai tujuan studinya. Hal itu berarti persaingan di antara para peserta dalam memperebutkan kursi di ITS bertambah ketat. Dari data yang dihimpun ITS Online, Jurusan Teknik Mesin (JTM) dan Jurusan Teknik Informatika (JTC) masih menempati posisi teratas jurusan favorit dengan peminat terbanyak.<\/p>\n<p>Dari segi keketatan persaingan, Jurusan Teknik Multimedia dan Jaringan (TMJ) unggul atas jurusan lain. Ketatnya persaingan di TMJ lantaran sedikitnya kuota yang disediakan, padahal peminatnya cukup banyak.  Pasalnya, dari 556 pendaftar hanya 18 orang yang lolos menjadi mahasiswa baru ITS.<\/p>\n<p>Usai pengumuman ini, bagi mereka yang lolos SBMPTN dijadwalkan akan melakukan proses daftar ulang selama empat hari mulai Selasa (28\/7) mendatang. Calon mahasiswa baru ITS terlebih dahulu akan diminta mengisi <em>form online<\/em> Sidamaru perihal data diri dan keluarga untuk menentukan nilai Uang Kuliah Tunggal (UKT). Sehingga, sebelum proses daftar ulang berlangsung calon mahasiswa ITS sudah bisa membayar UKT pertamanya sesuai yang telah ditetapkan tim verifikasi UKT.
