Kerjasama riset ini berorientasi pada penjalinan hubungan baik yang saling menguntungkan antara ITS dan AIC. Dalam melakukan risetnya, AIC fokus pada empat sektor. ”Yaitu riset pada sektor kesehatan, energi, pangan dan agrikultur, serta infrastruktur,” jelas Richard, Direktur Riset AIC.<\/p><\/div>\n

ITS berkolaborasi dalam sektor riset infrastruktur bersama tiga kampus lainnya, yaitu, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Monash University, dan University of Melbourne. Sektor ini dianggap penting oleh AIC lantaran letak geografis membuat kondisi alam Indonesia cenderung labil. ”Curah hujan yang tinggi, vulkanik, dan gempa memberikan alasan cukup untuk menyiapkan infrastruktur yang baik,” ungkapnya.<\/p><\/div>\n

Lain halnya pada riset di sektor kesehatan, Universitas Indonesia (UI) dan Universitas Airlangga (Unair) menjadi perguruan tinggi dalam negeri yang terlibat dalam kolaborasi tersebut. Kemudian, ada ITB dan Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) dalam kolaborasi riset pada sektor energi.<\/p>\n

Sedangkan Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) dan Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) berfokus pada pangan dan agrikultur. Sementara dari pihak Australia, perguruan tinggi maupun organisasi yang terlibat meliputi Monash University, University of Melbourne, The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation <\/span>(CSIRO), Australian National University (ANU), dan University of Sydney.<\/div>\n

Dalam pertemuan tersebut, AIC juga memaparkan tentang program Australia-Indonesia Research Summit yang telah dihelat selama dua hari pada Mei 2014 lalu. Dalam acara tersebut, peneliti Indonesia dan Australia saling berkolaborasi dalam mengembangkan ide, pengetahuan, penguatan hubungan, serta menganalisa kesempatan untuk membangun kolaborasi riset lanjutan.
