Suasana liburan tak mempengaruhi kinerja dari tim An-Dong, salah satu tim dari Politeknik Elka ITS, dalam mempersiapkan robotnya. Ini terlihat dari kesibukan dari masing-masing anggotanya pada tanggal merah (15\/3) kemarin.<\/p>\n

Hal itu memang dibenarkan oleh salah satu anggota tim An-Dong, Yuwono, menurutnya sejak oktober tahun lalu timnya sudah biasa untuk mengerjakan robot, yang akan dikompetisikan dalam kontes robot tingkat nasional atau IRC (Indonesian Robot Contest ) 2002, meski disaat liburan. "Ini sudah biasa bagi kami bekerja saat liburan. Soalnya waktunya memang sudah dekat. Dan kita harus persiapkan segalanya dengan sebaik mungkin" ujarnya sambil membetulkan beberapa bagian yang kurang.<\/p>\n

Robot yang telah dibuat oleh Tim An-Dong mempunyai tinggi sekitar 2 meter untuk yang manual. Dan mempunyai kemampuan untuk membawa sekitar 11 bola. Bola-bola yang ada tersebut akan digeser dengan menggunkan roda-roda gigi yang terpasangi dengan karet. Sehingga bola yang telah dipersiapkan akan bergerak ke depan melalui suatu lengan yang dibuat sedemikian rupa. "Rancangan dari robot manual ini telah berganti untuk kedua kalinya," jelasnya.<\/p>\n

Sedangkan untuk yang otomatis tim tersebut membuat 5 buah robot. 4 buah robot mempunyai bentuk rancangan yang sama. Tingginya kira-kira 1 meter. Dan cukup untuk menampung sekitar 3 bola. "Dengan adanya robot ini akan dapat mempercepat memasukan bola," katanya.<\/p>\n

Meskipun demikian, tim yang terdiri dari Aang (koordinator), Yuwono, Mahbub, Nando, dan Yendra, merasa bahwa robot tersebut belum sempurna. Karena itu mereka berusaha untuk memperbaiki bagian-bagian yang kurang dari robot-robot itu.
