Ia menginginkan adanya kebermanfaatan dari semburan lumpur panas Sidoarjo yang masih belum berhenti sampai sekarang.<\/p>\n<p>Untuk merealisasikan keinginan tersebut, ia pun mengajak Lukman Noerochim sebagai <em>partner<\/em> risetnya. &quot;Saya pun tertarik untuk ikut meneliti,&#8221; jelas Lukman yang merupakan dosen Jurusan Teknik Material dan Metalurgi ITS.<\/p>\n<p>Lukman menjelaskan, setelah beberapa kali melakukan pengujian, ia dan Amien menemukan sesuatu yang menarik dalam komponen penyusun lumpur panas Sidoarjo. Di situ, terdapat kandungan <em>Lithium<\/em> yang jumlahnya 70 kali lebih besar dibandingkan dengan yang biasa ditemukan di air laut. &quot;Kandungan <em>Lithium<\/em> pada lumpur ini benar-benar bisa kita manfaatkan,&#8221; ungkapnya.<\/p>\n<p>Hal itu kemudian menginspirasi keduanya untuk menciptakan sebuah alat pengekstraksi <em>Lithium<\/em>. Alat tersebut berupa membran yang mampu mengekstrak dan mengolah kandungan <em>Lithium<\/em> pada lumpur. Hasil estrakan tersebut nantinya dapat digunakan sebagai katoda untuk pembuatan baterai.<\/p>\n<p>Lukman melanjutkan, sistem kerja dari membran itu sendiri cukup sederhana. Alat yang mengandung <em>Lithium-Mangan-Dioksida<\/em> tersebut hanya tinggal dicelupkan ke dalam lumpur. Kemudian, membran akan bekerja secara otomatis menyerap kandungan <em>Lithium<\/em> yang ada pada lumpur.<\/p>\n<p>Rencananya, pada 2014 ini, penelitian akan dilanjutkan menuju arah produksi baterai <em>Lithium<\/em> siap pakai. Hal itu dilakukan mengingat konsumsi baterai <em>Lithium<\/em> cukup besar. Di samping itu, masyarakat Indonesia juga masih belum mandiri dalam hal pembuatannya. &quot;Sebuah potensi besar dari hasil penelitian terhadap lumpur Sidoarjo ini. Sudah waktunya Indonesia mandiri,&#8221; ungkap Lukman ketika ditemui di kantornya.<\/p>\n<p>Ia menambahkan, penelitian ini memang ditujukan untuk mencari nilai guna dari lumpur panas Sidoarjo. Akan tetapi, maksud lain yang tidak kalah penting ialah mengajak pihak-pihak tertentu untuk memikirkan solusi tepat atas musibah yang menimpa masyarakat Sidoarjo tersebut. &quot;Penelitian ini kami harap bisa memicu pihak lain untuk ikut menyelesaian masalah lumpur Sidoarjo dengan segera,&#8221; pungkasnya.
