Saat ditemui di laboratorium mekatronika D3 Teknik Mesin, Hendro menjelaskan bahwa pembuatan dua jenis sepeda motor tersebut telah dimulai sejak 2012 lalu. Ide tersebut muncul lantaran beberapa negara maju di dunia tengah gencar memproduksi sepeda motor berbahan bakar gas dan listik. ”Sayangnya, di Indonesia masih belum ada yang berani membuat jenis sepeda motor serupa,” terang Hendro. <\/p>\n

Sehingga, ia dan beberapa mahasiswanya tertantang untuk mengeksplor kemampuan mereka dalam membuat sepeda motor berbahan bakar listrik dan gas. Setelah satu tahun, akhirnya dua sepeda motor barupun lahir. Pertama, sepeda motor berbahan bakar gas yang bernama Wisanggeni. Dan yang kedua ialah sepeda motor berbahan bakar listrik berjuluk Rajageni. <\/div>\n

Hendro melanjutkan, Wisanggeni memiliki beberapa keunggulan. Di antaranya hemat bahan bakar dan ramah lingkungan. ”Motor ini mampu menempuh jarak 70 kilometer hanya dengan satu kilogram bahan bakar gas saja. Selain itu juga tidak mengeluarkan emisi gas buang berupa gas CO,” terang Hendro.<\/div>\n

Tak hanya itu, Wisanggeni juga mempunyai kelebihan lebih ekonomis. Sebab, gas LPG ukuran tiga kilogram pun bisa digunakan sebagai bahan bakar. Tabung gas tersebut dapat diletakan di bawah tempat duduk pengemudi. Sebagai pengaman, pada tabung gas juga dilengkapi alat regulator serta sensor gas. "Dengan adanya pengamanan tersebut, Wisanggeni dapat diproduksi sebagai sepeda motor asli buatan Indonesia," tutur Hendro. <\/div>\n

Sementara untuk desainnya, Wisanggeni memiliki tampilan yang cukup menarik. Hendro dan timnya mengadopsi beberapa bentuk motor laki-laki lalu mengkombinasikannya dengan warna merah dan putih. Hendro mengaku, desain tersebut merupakan karya timnya sendiri mengikuti selera pasar.  <\/div>\n

Sedangkan untuk Rajageni, desainnya lebih modern layaknya motor matic<\/em>. Dengan bahan bakar listrik, Rajageni pun mampu berjalan dengan kecepatan maksimal 75 kilometer per jam. ”Dengan adanya kendaraan yang menggunakan energi alternatif, ketergantungan akan bahan bakar minyak bisa semakin berkurang,” terang Hendro.<\/div>\n

Meski begitu, Hendro menegaskan bahwa masih perlu adanya pengembangan dari kedua prototype <\/em>tersebut. Salah satunya dari aspek mesin motor. Untuk saat ini, mesin yang digunakan masih memanfaatkan yang ada di pasaran. Namun, untuk kedepannya akan diusahakan membuat sendiri.<\/div>\n

Hendro berharap, kedua prototipe tersebut dapat diproduksi masal. Menurutnya, hal itu tidak akan sulit jika ada kerja sama antara pihak industri, akademisi dan pemerintah. ”Rencananya, bila bisa diproduksi masal kami akan sesuaikan dengan harga rata-rata di pasaran, namun dengan kualitas yang lebih baik,” pungkas Hendro.
