Penyelenggara konferensi tersebut dipilih langsung oleh AAPG Indonesia. Sementara tahun ini, AAPG SC ITS dipilih menjadi penyelenggara setelah memperoleh penghargaan <em>Honorable Mention<\/em> di tingkat internasional.<\/p>\n<p>Penghargaan ini diberikan oleh AAPG Internasional kepada AAPG SC di setiap negara. Penilaian dilakukan berdasarkan program dan aktivitas AAPG SC di setiap universitas selama satu periode. &#8221;Dari Indonesia ada dua universitas yang masuk kategori lima besar, AAPG SC ITS sebagai salah satunya,&#8221; terang Tri Martha Kusuma Putra, panitia SEAPEX <em>Annual Leadership Student Conference.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Konferensi ini mempertemukan mahasiswa yang belajar di bidang ilmu geologi dan geofisika untuk berbagi pengalaman. &#8221;Satu universitas mengirimkan tiga orang perwakilan yang terdiri atas <em>president, vice president<\/em>, dan sekretaris dari setiap AAPG SC,&#8221; tandas Putra.<\/p>\n<p>Lebih dari sekedar konferensi, menurut M Amin Ahlun Nazzar, acara ini juga memberikan pelatihan dengan pembicara khusus. Misalnya saja, Giovanni C Kaeng dari koordinator AAPG SC Asia Pasifik. <\/p>\n<p>Selain itu, peserta akan dibekali materi kepemimpinan dan kiat membuat <em>Event Organizing<\/em> (EO) dalam skala global lewat bentuk simulasi. &#8221;Mereka akan belajar bagaimana mengundang pembicara terkemuka hingga organisasi dana dalam sebuah <em>event<\/em>,&#8221; kata Amin, pembicara dalam SEAPEG <em>Annual Leadership Student Conference<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Nantinya, peserta akan diajak mengunjungi situs semburan lumpur di Porong, Siodarjo. Situs semburan lumpur akibat pengeboran minyak ini menjadi tujuan karena dianggap sebagai fenomena geologi dan dikenal dunia internasional. &#8221;Ini program <em>field trip<\/em> yang memberikan kesempatan kepada peserta untuk menyaksikan langsung bagaimana keadaan semburan lumpur di Porong,&#8221; tandas mahasiswa angkatan 2008 ini.<\/p>\n<p>Putra menambahkan, tujuan akhir dari konferensi ini adalah untuk membentuk anggota AAPG SC menjadi seorang <em>Geo Scientist<\/em> yang punya jiwa<em> leadership<\/em>. &#8221;Harapannya, mereka bisa menciptakan inovasi dalam AAPG SC di masing-masing universitas,&#8221; kata Putra, yang pernah menjabat sebagai <em>President<\/em> AAPG SC ITS.
