Bukan tanpa alasan, ia meyakini bahwa mendidik calon pemimpin bangsa itu tidak cukup hanya di ruang kelas saja. &#8221;Dikotomi pada pendidikan akademik dan non-akademik itu tidak ada,&#8221; jelas profesor yang saat ini menjabat sebagai Pembantu Rektor (PR) I ITS ini.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam sebuah kuliah umum bersama seorang seniman, Herman pernah mengatakan, paradigma tersebut merupakan musibah pembinaan mahasiswa yang nyata. &#8221;Mereka itu bukan objek, tapi subjek karena mereka melakukannya (pembelajaran, red) sendiri,&#8221; sebutnya dengan gaya yang bicara tenang seperti biasanya.<\/p>\n<p>Dengan begitu, ia berharap kelurusan pola pembinaan kemahasiswaan dengan program kerja rektor akan terwujud lebih baik. &#8221;Mendidik itu tidak sama dengan mengajar,&#8221; tambahnya. Selain itu, ia pun menambahkan untuk dapat mewujudkan SCL pendidik juga perlu melakukan pemahaman pendidikan berbasis laboratorium.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221;<em>Key Performance Indicator <\/em>(KPI) yang menjadi kuncinya itu terdapat dalam program kreativitas di setiap laboratorium,&#8221; ulas alumni Teknik Mesin ITS ini. Nantinya, interaksi pun akan tercipta antara laboratorium dan mahasiswa. &#8221;Ayo jadikan lab itu hidup dan menghidupi,&#8221; harap Herman.<\/p>\n<p>Ke depan, pihak kemahasiswaan sebagai salah satu faktor keberhasilan mahasiswa akan terus berupaya meningkatkan kualitasnya. &#8221;Seperti pelatihan OPPEK saat ini, semoga dapat menjadi media komunikasi dan persamaan persepsi antar jurusan,&#8221; ucap Dr Ir Bambang Sampurno MT, Kepala Badan Pembinaan Kemahasiswaan dan Hubungan Alumni ITS.<\/p>\n<p>Terkait persoalan di atas, menurut Bambang ada empat&nbsp; keahlian yang perlu dimiliki mahasiswa ITS. &#8221;Yaitu manajemen, menulis, berbahasa asing, dan nilai-nilai luhur yang terkandung dalam istilah CAK pada jargon ITS,&#8221; timpalnya. Untuk mengintegrasi antar elemen mahasiswa di ITS, ia pun punya cara jitu dalam mengatasinya. &#8221;Setelah ini, minimal 25 persen panitia yang tergabung dalam suatu kegiatan mahasiswa di jurusan harus melibatkan mahasiswa dari jurusan lain,&#8221; tutupnya.
