Kampus ITS, ITS News \u2014 <\/strong>Torehan prestasi membanggakan tak henti-hentinya dipersembahkan oleh sivitas akademika Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a>. Kali ini, dosen Departemen Teknik Mesin ITS Dr Latifah Nurahmi ST MSc PhD berhasil meraih penghargaan Honorable Mention<\/em> kategori Mid-Career<\/em> pada ajang UL Research Institutes\u2019 ASEAN-U.S. Science Prize for Women 2026<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Digelar oleh ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation<\/em> (COSTI), beberapa waktu lalu, kompetisi sains internasional ini mengapresiasi kontribusi ilmuwan perempuan di ASEAN. Bersama US-ASEAN Business Council<\/em> (USABC), UL Research Institutes<\/em> (ULRI), dan UL Standards & Engagement<\/em> (ULSE), perhelatan di tahun 2026 ini mengusung tema AI for Advancing Inclusive and Resilient Healthcare in ASEAN<\/em> dengan fokus menyoroti penerapan kecerdasan buatan atau akal imitasi (AI) dalam memperkuat sektor kesehatan.<\/p>\n

Pada ajang tersebut, Latifah mengawali tahapan seleksi dengan mengirimkan proposal riset serta surat rekomendasi akademik. Setelah dinyatakan lolos ke tingkat nasional, ia mengunggah video pitch<\/em> yang memaparkan hasil penelitiannya. Keunggulan inovasi yang digagas berhasil mengantarkannya sebagai salah satu dari empat finalis regional yang diundang untuk mempresentasikan karya secara langsung di Da Nang, Vietnam.<\/p>\n

Keberhasilan perempuan asal Sidoarjo ini bertumpu pada penelitiannya mengenai perancangan robot rehabilitasi medis. Ia menerangkan bahwa pergeseran pola hidup modern kian meningkatkan prevalensi stroke di kawasan ASEAN. Memandang realitas tersebut, ia mengembangkan teknologi robotik guna memfasilitasi pemulihan motorik bagi pasien pascastroke. \u201cSejalan dengan tema yang diusung, inovasi ini hadir sebagai wujud nyata kemandirian teknologi yang accessible<\/em>,\u201d tuturnya.<\/p>\n

Terkait peranti unggulannya, perempuan kelahiran 16 November 1986 ini menyematkan tiga fitur utama, yakni Feel, See<\/em>, dan Understand<\/em>. Ia menjelaskan, Feel<\/em> berfungsi sebagai sensor pengendali gaya dorong robot agar mampu bergerak secara lembut dan menyesuaikan kenyamanan pasien. Sementara itu, fitur See<\/em> memanfaatkan kamera berbasis computer vision<\/em> untuk merekam sekaligus memantau parameter gerak pasien secara presisi.<\/p>\n

Sebagai terobosan mutakhir, Latifah mengintegrasikan AI untuk menyempurnakan fitur understand. Melalui algoritma Random Forest<\/em> dan Support Vector Machine<\/em> (SVM), sistem ini mengolah data yang dihimpun dari fitur Feel<\/em> dan See<\/em> untuk memprediksi kurva latihan yang optimal bagi pasien. \u201cKetiga fitur beserta integrasi AI inilah yang saya bawa sampai ke babak final,\u201d imbuh Sekretaris Senat Akademik ITS ini.<\/p>\n

Dengan demikian, raihan gemilang ini turut mengukuhkan komitmen ITS dalam mendukung pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals<\/em> (SDGs). Antara lain meliputi poin ke-3 tentang Kehidupan Sehat dan Sejahtera serta poin ke-9 tentang Industri, Inovasi, dan Infrastruktur.
