Namun, keberhasilannya sangat ditentukan oleh kesiapan teknis yang matang di seluruh rantai sistem bahan bakar dan mesin.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Menanggapi hal tersebut, Guru Besar Departemen Teknik Mesin <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> Prof Dr Ir Bambang Sudarmanta ST MT IPM AEng bahas kesiapan implementasi biodiesel B50 di masyarakat. Secara fundamental, karakteristik biodiesel yang berbeda dari diesel fosil menimbulkan perubahan signifikan pada sifat fisik, kimia, serta perilaku pembakaran. \u201dHal seperti itu yang secara langsung mempengaruhi performa, keandalan, dan umur sistem mesin,\u201d jelas Bambang.<\/p>\n<p>Oleh karena itu, pendekatan implementasi B50 tidak dapat hanya berbasis kebijakan. Menurut Guru Besar ke-194 ITS ini, penerapan bahan bakar tersebut juga harus melalui pendekatan berbasis mesin atau <em>engineering-driven approach<\/em> yang komprehensif. Dari sisi fisik mesinnya, biodiesel memiliki densitas dan viskositas yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan diesel fosil.<\/p>\n<p>Densitas yang lebih tinggi menyebabkan peningkatan massa bahan bakar yang terinjeksi dalam sistem berbasis volumetrik. Peningkatan itulah yang berpotensi menimbulkan <em>over-fueling<\/em> dan perubahan karakter pembakaran. Selain itu, juga dapat memperlambat evaporasi, serta meningkatkan kecenderungan terbentuknya zona <em>rich mixture<\/em> yang menjadi sumber pembentukan deposit dan emisi partikulat.<\/p>\n<p>Di samping hal itu, sifat higroskopis biodiesel menjadi faktor kritis dalam implementasi B50. Biodiesel memiliki kecenderungan menyerap air dari lingkungan, baik selama penyimpanan maupun distribusi. Kandungan air dalam bahan bakar tidak hanya menurunkan kualitas pembakaran, tetapi juga menciptakan kondisi ideal bagi pertumbuhan mikroorganisme seperti bakteri dan jamur.<\/p>\n<p>Pertumbuhan mikroorganisme seperti itu dapat berkembang pada antarmuka air dan bahan bakar. Selain itu, menurut Bambang, hal tersebut juga akan menghasilkan biofilm dan senyawa asam yang menyebabkan korosi, penyumbatan filter, serta degradasi kualitas bahan bakar.<\/p>\n<p>Untuk jangka panjang, Bambang menyampaikan, fenomena itu dapat menyebabkan kegagalan sistem bahan bakar, terutama pada injektor dan pompa tekanan tinggi. Selain itu, sifat pembakaran biodiesel yang berbeda dari diesel fosil memengaruhi efisiensi atomisasi dan distribusi panas, yang jika tidak dikelola dengan tepat, berpotensi menurunkan kinerja mesin serta meningkatkan emisi.<\/p>\n<p>Menghadapi tantangan tersebut, diperlukan strategi mitigasi terintegrasi yang berfokus pada pengendalian kualitas bahan bakar yang ketat melalui penggunaan aditif serta penyesuaian parameter teknis pada sistem injeksi dan ruang bakar. Langkah ini bertujuan untuk meminimalisasi risiko <em>injector fouling<\/em> dan <em>nozzle coking<\/em>, sekaligus memastikan bahwa mesin dapat beradaptasi dengan perubahan sifat fisik dan kimia biodiesel.<\/p>\n<p>Lebih lanjut, penerapan sistem pemantauan berbasis sensor dan <em>digital twin<\/em> menjadi kunci untuk beralih menuju metode <em>predictive maintenance<\/em> yang lebih efisien. Dengan pendekatan terpadu yang menggabungkan rekayasa bahan bakar, optimasi desain mesin, dan pengawasan berbasis digital, maka implementasi B50 diharapkan dapat berjalan secara andal untuk mendukung keberlanjutan sistem energi nasional.<\/p>\n<p>Penerapan B50 harus diimbangi adanya strategi mitigasi implementasinya agar dapat berjalan sesuai dengan tujuan mendukung kemandirian energi nasional sejalan dengan cita-cita <em>Sustainable Development Goals<\/em> (SDGs).
