ITS Campus, ITS News \u2014\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS)\u00a0<\/span><\/a>continues to expand its student internationalization efforts. This time,\u00a0<\/span>the Industrial Chemical Engineering Department (DTKI)\u00a0<\/span><\/a>of the ITS Vocational School held an exhibition of industrial\u00a0<\/span>mock-ups<\/span><\/i>\u00a0based on chemical processes, a collaboration between ITS students and Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Friday (June 19) at the ITS Vocational School Plaza.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Alexandria Najwa Gisa, Liaison Officer<\/span><\/em>\u00a0for the Global Summer Course Initiative 2026 Program, explained that the exhibition is part of a series of events within the collaborative program between ITS Vocational School and UMPSA. The program is also designed to support the completion of final assignments for third-year ITS DTKI students. “Through this program, students not only learn to complete projects but also gain experience working together in cross-national teams,” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alexandria added that the industry’s need for competent human resources continues to grow, making technical skills alone insufficient. She believes that in an increasingly global workplace, the ability to collaborate with individuals from diverse countries and backgrounds is a valuable asset. This aligns with ITS’s DTKI strategy of providing students with work experience in a multicultural environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the project, ITS and UMPSA students were divided into nine interdisciplinary groups covering chemical engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Each group was tasked with designing a chemical process-based industry, from the planning stage to producing a factory\u00a0<\/span>mock-up<\/span><\/i>\u00a0for exhibition. Through this approach, participants learned to integrate diverse perspectives, work patterns, and scientific approaches into a single design.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kiang Hao Yi, a UMPSA student, admitted to gaining new experiences during the five-day program. He said collaborating with ITS students gave him a broader understanding, particularly regarding hands-on learning. “So far, I’ve only learned about design, but here, I’m learning from ITS students how to translate designs into physical\u00a0<\/span>mockups<\/span><\/i>\u00a0,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The UMPSA Chemical Engineering Diploma student also hopes the collaboration between ITS and UMPSA will continue. He believes this activity provides an opportunity for students from both countries to exchange knowledge and understand each other’s academic thinking and culture. Furthermore, this program also supports the implementation of\u00a0<\/span>Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/span><\/i>\u00a0Point 17, “Partnerships to Achieve Goals.”\u00a0<\/span>(*)<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
