Kampus ITS, ITS News \u2014<\/strong> Mengukuhkan perannya dalam penguatan riset global, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> memfasilitasi COMSATS-ITS<\/a> Conference yang membahas arah penelitian dan inovasi teknologi untuk pembangunan berkelanjutan. Mengusung tema Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Development, konferensi yang mempertemukan delegasi lintas negara ini berlangsung di Auditorium Gedung Pusat Riset ITS, Rabu (10\/6).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Direktur Jenderal Riset dan Pengembangan (Dirjen Risbang) Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi, Sains, dan Teknologi (Kemdiktisaintek) RI Dr Muhammad Fauzan Aziman menekankan bahwa penelitian perlu diarahkan untuk menjawab persoalan nyata di masyarakat. Menurutnya, riset tidak lagi cukup hanya berangkat dari topik umum, tetapi harus memiliki dasar masalah yang jelas agar hasilnya dapat memberi dampak. \u201cPenelitian harus didasarkan pada masalah atau tantangan,\u201d tegasnya mengingatkan.<\/p>\n

Lebih lanjut, Fauzan menerangkan bahwa Indonesia terus membangun ekosistem riset melalui program penelitian prioritas dan strategis. Program tersebut diarahkan untuk memperluas pemerataan kapasitas riset sekaligus mendorong penelitian berkualitas tinggi yang mampu menjawab kebutuhan industri dan masyarakat.<\/p>\n

Ia juga menilai bahwa universitas tidak dapat lagi berjalan sendiri dalam membangun ekosistem penelitian. Oleh karena itu, kampus perlu memperkuat kemitraan dengan pemerintah, industri, investor, dan komunitas agar hasil riset dapat berkembang menjadi solusi yang lebih aplikatif.<\/p>\n

Dalam konferensi ini, pembahasan riset mencakup kecerdasan buatan, big data, transformasi digital, energi terbarukan, teknologi hijau, serta mitigasi perubahan iklim. Selain itu, dibahas pula tentang material maju, nanoteknologi, bioteknologi, teknologi kesehatan, ketahanan pangan, hingga kebijakan sains dan inovasi.<\/p>\n

Beberapa sesi juga mengangkat topik spesifik, seperti pemodelan sistem bumi berbasis akal imitasi (AI), pemanfaatan limbah lokal menjadi produk bernilai tinggi, teknologi untuk ketahanan bencana, hingga inovasi material maju di ITS. Pembahasan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa riset diarahkan tidak hanya untuk pengembangan ilmu, tetapi juga untuk menjawab kebutuhan global dan lokal.<\/p>\n

Sejalan dengan hal tersebut, Rektor ITS Prof Dr (HC) Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD menegaskan bahwa ITS berkomitmen mengembangkan riset yang berorientasi pada kebutuhan nyata masyarakat. Komitmen tersebut diwujudkan melalui berbagai inovasi di bidang energi, teknologi kelautan, kecerdasan buatan, robotika, hingga transformasi digital. \u201cPenelitian seharusnya bisa menciptakan dampak,\u201d tutur Guru Besar Departemen Teknik Mesin ITS tersebut.<\/p>\n

Sementara itu, Direktur Eksekutif COMSATS Dr Mohammad Nafees Zakaria menyampaikan bahwa negara berkembang masih menghadapi tantangan kompleks, mulai dari perubahan iklim, ketahanan pangan, air, dan energi, hingga kesenjangan ekonomi. Meski demikian, ia menilai perkembangan teknologi dapat menjadi peluang besar apabila dimanfaatkan secara bertanggung jawab. \u201cTeknologi baru mengubah setiap aspek kehidupan kita dengan sangat cepat,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n

Konferensi ini selaras dengan Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Antara lain poin ke-4 tentang Pendidikan Berkualitas, poin ke-7 tentang Energi Bersih dan Terjangkau. Selain itu juga poin ke-9 tentang Industri, Inovasi, dan Infrastruktur, serta poin 17 tentang Kemitraan untuk Mencapai Tujuan. Melalui penguatan riset, teknologi, dan kolaborasi lintas negara, konferensi ini diharapkan mampu mendorong pembangunan yang lebih berkelanjutan dan berdampak bagi masyarakat.
