ITS Campus, ITS News \u2014<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) affirms its readiness to support the new direction of national research as outlined in the 2026\u20132045 National Strategic Research Roadmap and the 2026\u20132029 National Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda prepared by the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek). This commitment is demonstrated through strengthening research downstreaming, accelerating innovation commercialization, and the active involvement of ITS lecturers as a team of experts drafting the national research roadmap.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, ST, MEng, PhD, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to strengthening impactful research after delivering a dawn sermon at the ITS Manarul Ilmi Mosque on Saturday (May 9). On that occasion, Brian emphasized that university research and innovation must align with the National Priority Work Program (PKPN) launched by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.<\/p>\n

According to Brian, aligning innovative work with the nation’s strategic needs is crucial in addressing existing challenges. “Universities are expected to align various research findings with national targets, so that research is not separated from existing needs,” said the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brian believes ITS is one of the universities with numerous innovations relevant to current national needs. He cited several ITS projects, such as electric motors and tractors, and even coconut climbing equipment, which are considered to have the potential to support the national food and energy independence agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of partnerships between universities and industry to accelerate the downstreaming of research results. He noted that developed countries with large industrial ecosystems are generally supported by strong university research integrated with industry and government needs. “We will continue to encourage research from ITS, especially that aligned with food and energy independence programs, both of which require a strong technological foundation,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Previously, Thursday (7\/5), the Director General of Research and Development of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Technology, Dr. Mohammad Fauzan Adziman ST MEng, also held a meeting with the Higher Education Service Institute (LLDIKTI) Region VII. On the evening of the meeting, several universities in East Java participated, including ITS, Airlangga University (UNAIR), Surabaya State University (UNESA), and the National Development University (UPN) Veteran East Java.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting, which took place in the Academic Senate Meeting Room of the ITS Rectorate, also emphasized the importance of aligning university research with the national strategic research and innovation roadmap.<\/span><\/p>\n

Responding to this, ITS Rector Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MSc, PhD, emphasized that ITS is ready to support the national strategic research agenda by strengthening the downstreaming of research that has an impact on society and industry. According to him, this step is in line with ITS’s vision as an Entrepreneurial University that encourages the acceleration of commercialization of innovative research products. “ITS is ready to support the national strategic research agenda and will continue to encourage the downstreaming of impactful research,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

ITS’s commitment to supporting the new direction of national research is also demonstrated through the active involvement of a number of ITS lecturers as a team of experts in the preparation of the 2026\u20132045 National Strategic Research Roadmap and Agenda. In the maritime sector, ITS is represented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Raden Sjarief Widjaja, Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Zullaikah ST MT, Dr. Adi Novitarini Putri ST MT, Dr. Setyo Nugroho ST MT, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Muhamad Hatta ST MSi. Meanwhile, in the defense sector, ITS is represented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Subchan MS PhD.<\/span><\/p>\n

This involvement reinforces ITS’s position as a university that actively contributes to shaping national research directions and is ready to deliver impactful innovations across various strategic sectors, particularly in its leading fields, such as maritime, agro-industry, energy, electric transportation, and defense technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

By strengthening industrial collaboration, downstreaming technology, and developing research based on national needs, ITS is optimistic that it can become a driving force for innovation toward Indonesia’s technological independence.
