ITS Campus, ITS News \u2014<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0One of the graduates of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) who was a member of the Patriot Expedition Team (TEP), Abdul Rohid, has passed away before he could attend his graduation ceremony. As a token of appreciation for his dedication to the country, the Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans) of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara SH MA directly handed over the deceased’s diploma to his parents who represented him in the 133rd ITS Graduation procession, Saturday (18\/4).<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

An emotional atmosphere immediately filled the Grha Sepuluh Nopember ITS room, where the first day of the graduation ceremony took place. The deceased’s parents, Abdul Ghofur and Jumaika, received their applied bachelor’s degrees (D4) in Instrumentation Engineering Technology, presented by the Minister of Transmigration together with ITS Rector Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD with teary eyes. The audience immediately applauded, providing moral support for Abdul Rohid’s family.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Minister of Transmigration presented his diploma as the culmination of the nation’s respect for Abdul Rohid’s dedication to mapping the economic potential of the Tomini Raya Maritime Transmigration Area in Central Sulawesi. For this purpose, the deceased even postponed his graduation, which was scheduled for September 2025. However, fate had other plans: before he could celebrate his graduation, Abdul Rohid had to meet the Almighty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beginning his remarks, the Minister of Transmigration, familiarly known as Iftitah, expressed the nation’s respect and deep condolences to the family of the deceased. He stated that the awarding of the diploma was not merely an administrative process, but rather a form of recognition for the significant service of a young patriot who died on the front lines of national development. “The late Abdul Rohid not only completed his studies but also fulfilled his life’s task as a devoted son, a useful human being, and a patriot to his nation,” Iftitah expressed her appreciation.<\/span><\/p>\n

In line with this appreciation, the ITS Chancellor also expressed his pride and deep condolences for the extraordinary dedication shown by the deceased during his service. “Through this opportunity, we express our pride and appreciation to the deceased, who has set an example by remaining dedicated to realizing the best spirit until the end of his life,” said the\u00a0<\/span>ITS Professor of Mechanical Engineering,<\/span><\/a>\u00a0full of emotion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abdul Rohid, a native of Sidoarjo, is an outstanding student in the Diploma 4 (D4) Instrumentation Engineering Technology program,\u00a0<\/span>in the Department of Instrumentation Engineering ,\u00a0<\/span><\/a>Faculty of Vocational Studies, ITS<\/span><\/a>\u00a0. He successfully completed his studies on time in eight semesters with outstanding academic results. Abdul Rohid graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.58 and earned Cum Laude honors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite having fulfilled the graduation requirements since September 2025, Abdul Rohid chose to postpone his graduation ceremony to fulfill his community service duties with TEP. While his colleagues were busy preparing graduation supplies, Rohid chose to dive into the field of community service.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, during this noble mission, Rohid’s health declined, leading to his untimely passing. His passing leaves behind profound sorrow, but he left behind the lasting value that technology without humanity is meaningless. He was a deeply socially minded person known for his deep love for his family.<\/span><\/p>\n

In support of this, the Indonesian Ministry of Transmigration is committed to providing a full scholarship to the deceased’s younger sibling, Aprilia Nur Intan Saputri, until she graduates from vocational high school. Meanwhile, ITS will also provide assistance to continue her studies at ITS to her younger sibling as a form of respect for the deceased’s sacrifice. “Through higher education, she wanted to help her entire family. For that reason, ITS will continue her mandate so that her younger sibling can pursue a bachelor’s degree as the deceased dreamed of,” stated Prof. Dr. Ir. Aulia Siti Aisjah, MT, Head of the Patriot Expedition Team and\u00a0<\/span>Director of Academic Development and Learning Innovation at ITS.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

At the 133rd ITS Graduation Ceremony, the deceased’s parents also presented a prototype\u00a0<\/span>Smart Air Purifier and Humidifier<\/span><\/em>\u00a0created by the late Abdul Rohid as his final project to ITS. This innovative device is a testament to the deceased’s dedication to bringing honor to his alma mater, which has won awards in various competitions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although Abdul Rohid has passed away, the Bachelor of Applied Engineering (STrT) degree he received today is clear proof that he has perfectly fulfilled his worldly duties. He departed not only with a diploma, but also with the honor of being a true patriot to the Heroes Campus and the nation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through his dedication and tangible work, ITS has strengthened its contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in point 4, namely Quality Education, and point 8, namely Decent Work and Economic Growth.
