ITS Campus, ITS News \u2014<\/strong> Supporting downstreaming and national development, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> continues to strengthen its commitment to producing superior human resources. This is demonstrated through the Professional Engineer Inauguration of the Engineer Professional Program Study Program (PSPPI)<\/a> from the ITS Interdisciplinary School of Management and Technology (SIMT)<\/a> at the ITS Grha Sepuluh Nopember on Sunday (19\/4) afternoon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In this inauguration, a total of 176 new professional engineers consisting of lecturers, experts, and practitioners from various sectors were officially inaugurated. To date, ITS has produced professional 1,781 engineers.<\/p>\n

The engineer profession inauguration serves as a strategic momentum to strengthen the downstreaming of national industry, particularly in the agricultural sector. On this occasion, the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Dr Ir Andi Amran Sulaiman MP who was also present emphasized the importance of the engineer’s role as a driver of industrial transformation in Indonesia. “Engineers must not only be spectators, but must be the motor in the downstreaming of national industry,” he asserted as a reminder.<\/p>\n

According to Amran, the attributes worn in the inauguration procession are not merely ceremonial symbols. The toga and engineer’s helmet, according to him, represent a massive responsibility as agents of change bringing tangible innovation to society. “In the hands of engineers, downstreaming can be optimized to support national economic growth,” he stated hopefully.<\/p>\n

In line with the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Agriculture, ITS Rector Prof Dr (HC) Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD asserted that the engineering profession bears a heavy responsibility in building civilization. Bambang considers that an engineer must not only master technical aspects, but must also be capable of applying their knowledge for the nation. “The expertise of engineers should be utilized to build human civilization,” he advised.<\/p>\n

In this context, the Professor of the ITS Mechanical Engineering Department<\/a> emphasized that research produced by engineers must not stop in the library, but needs to be downstreamed into solutions for society. Therefore, ITS continues to encourage collaboration with ministries and industrial partners so that research results can be implemented widely. “This also strengthens the role of engineers as drivers of innovation and national builders,” he added.<\/p>\n

Supporting the role of engineers as drivers of innovation, the Chairman of the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII) East Java Dr Ir Gentur Prihantono SP SH MT MH emphasized that this inauguration is an affirmation of the engineers’ commitment. This commitment affirmation is marked by the professional oath which solidifies the engineer’s commitment to moral and ethical responsibilities. “Engineers also need to remember the importance of maintaining integrity and accountability,” Gentur asserted as a reminder.<\/p>\n

Through this inauguration, ITS solidifies its contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically point 9 regarding Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. Gentur hopes the new engineers will be able to grow into figures with integrity. “This momentum is expected to become a compass for engineers as they step forward,” he concluded.
