ITS Campus, ITS News <\/strong>\u2014<\/strong> <\/span>Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> again produces graduates who are not only skilled academically, but also have capable soft skills<\/em>. This is proven by Pelangi Masita Wati, one of the graduates at the 133rd ITS Graduation on Saturday (18\/4), who was able to achieve the highest Student Extracurricular Credit Unit (SKEM) score of 839 and successfully graduated in 3.5 years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

SKEM itself is one of the schemes from ITS in recording student activities outside the classroom. Several activities that can be included are organizational activities, committees, sports, competitions, internationalization, internships, and so on. ITS also targets its students to get a minimum of 100 SKEM credits as one of the graduation requirements.<\/p>\n

Far from the minimum target, the female graduate from the ITS Informatics Engineering Department<\/a> successfully achieved the highest SKEM score in this graduation event within her seven semesters of study. Pelangi herself admitted that she did not make this a target she set at the beginning and was just diligent in collecting her activities into SKEM. “Even so, of course I also feel very grateful and happy about this,” expressed Pelangi, who is sometimes also called Angie.<\/p>\n

This alumna of SMA Negeri 6 Surabaya views the SKEM credit as a positive thing in the context of student development outside the classroom. Pelangi admitted that during high school, she was a person who did not participate in activities outside the classroom and tended to only focus on her academics. The SKEM system successfully pushed her to become an active and achievement-filled figure while undergoing college.<\/p>\n

The activities participated in by Pelangi to obtain the SKEM score were quite diverse. She was once joined in the Apple Developer Academy which became her practical work and the Indonesia\u2013NTU Singapore Research Institute for Sustainability and Innovation (INSPIRASI) Summer Program at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. In addition, Pelangi was also active in participating in organizations and competitions that fit her field in Informatics Engineering. “I still choose activities that fit my passion and goals,” she added, emphasizing that she did not just join all activities randomly.<\/p>\n

The girl born on September 18, 2003, truly felt the fruits of her various activity experiences outside the classroom. She admitted that the activities she participated in not only gave her the benefit of technical experience, but also personal ability in terms of adaptation and communication. She believes this can be useful in helping her activities in society as well as the world of work.<\/p>\n

Even though her studies also had ups and downs, Pelangi proved that academics and non-academics are things that can run hand in hand. With a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.76 and a magna cum laude predicate, she held onto her principle of continuing to grow, following her vision, and maintaining her health as her strategic keys. “A supportive environment from friends, lecturers, and ITS also became my strong driver to grow here,” she stated gratefully.<\/p>\n

This inspiring story from Pelangi becomes one of the forms of ITS’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on point 4 regarding Quality Education. The graduate, who is now back active at the Apple Developer Academy by being part of the AIML Institute, also hopes that her previous experiences and knowledge can be useful for others in her life after graduation.
