Terhitung dari 709 peserta se-Jawa dan Bali yang ikut kompetisi ini, akhirnya hanya sepuluh peserta berhak mengikuti final. Satu hari sebelumnya, Sabtu (26\/2), mereka telah menyingkirkan 15 peserta lain yang mengikuti babak semifinal.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>Acara yang digagas Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Mesin (HMM) ini dibagi menjadi dua tahap penilaian. Yang pertama adalah <em>troubleshooting,<\/em> panitia menyediakan sebuah <em>engine<\/em> yang telah dimodifikasi terlebih dahulu sehingga tidak dapat berfungsi dengan baik. Para finalis kemudian satu persatu diminta untuk mencari masalah dalam <em>engine<\/em> tersebut dan memperbaikinya. &quot;Kebersihan, ketangkasan dan kecepatan yang dinilai pada tahap <em>troubleshooting<\/em> ini,&quot; ujar Fallo Susilo, ketua pelaksana acara MSC.<\/p>\n<p>Tahap final yang kedua adalah presentasi. &quot;Para finalis diharuskan mempresentasikan hasil analisa dan solusi yang mereka tawarkan dari <em>troubleshooting <\/em>sebelumnya kepada para juri&quot;, lanjut Fallo. Para juri sendiri terdiri dari Dinas Pendidikan, Auto 2000 Surabaya dan Dosen Teknik Mesin.<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad Lukman Hakim dari SMK PGRI 1 Gresik memperoleh akumulasi nilai terbanyak dari dua tahap final itu. Dengan perolehan tersebut ia pun berhak menjadi juara dalam MSC 2011 dan memperoleh hadiah 5 juta rupiah dan trophy Mendiknas. Sedang di peringkat ke dua diraih oleh SMKN 2 Jogjakarta yang diwakili oleh Dimas Arif Purnomo. Untuk juara tiga diraih oleh Sapto Wicaksono dari SMKN 1 Blitar.<\/p>\n<p>Lukman Hakim yang diminta panitia untuk memberikan kesan dan pesannya mengatakan bahwa ia senang sekali mengikuti kompetisi ini. &quot;Untuk peserta lainnya, jangan berkecil hati, mari belajar lebih bersungguh-sungguh dan berkompetisi di lain waktu,&quot; pesan Lukman.
