ITS Campus, ITS News \u2014\u00a0<\/span><\/b>The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0remains committed to strengthening the strategic role of engineers in supporting national development. This commitment was reflected in the Engineering Dialogue held by the ITS Professional Engineering Program (PSPPI) and the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) at the ITS Rectorate Building on Friday afternoon (March 13).<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On the occasion, ITS Rector Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MSc, Eng, PhD, IPU, ASEAN, Eng., conveyed the idea of \u200b\u200baccelerating the professional engineering education pathway for engineering graduates. ITS is currently reviewing a scheme that would allow engineering graduates to immediately continue their professional engineering education for one year. “There are actually quite a lot of engineering graduates, but relatively few continue to become engineers,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through this scheme, students are expected to complete their undergraduate and professional engineering degrees in approximately five years. Bambang believes this step is part of an effort to increase the number of professional engineers in Indonesia. “This program is also expected to increase the government’s Engineering Index by 28 percent,” he stated optimistically.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bambang highlighted the transition in engineering practices, which now demands a new paradigm. Future engineers are expected to master STEM, energy efficiency, and smart technology, while also ensuring gender- and disability-friendly engineering practices. He added that this program is not just a certification, but a gateway to professional practice. “Acceleration is necessary so that Indonesia can prepare complete engineers who support the vision of a Golden Indonesia,” the ITS Professor of Mechanical Engineering reminded.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also highlighted several strategic issues in the engineering world, such as the gap between academic innovation and industry needs, the importance of maintaining professional integrity and ethics, and the rapid technological developments that engineers must manage wisely. “We hope engineers can anticipate these challenges with professionalism and innovation,” the 13th Rector of ITS said.<\/span><\/p>\n

In line with this, ITS plans to further discuss the implementation of\u00a0<\/span>the World Engineering Forum Government Engineering Index<\/span><\/em>\u00a0this year. The index will measure engineering practices in regional development and enhance collaboration between universities and the government to strengthen the quality and professionalism of engineers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Agus Taufik Mulyono, MT. IPU ASEAN Eng., emphasized that the engineering profession holds a significant responsibility in ensuring the safety, health, and sustainable development of the community. “Engineering practices must be carried out by competent professionals who adhere to the professional code of ethics,” asserted the man often called ATM.<\/span><\/p>\n

This effort aligns with ITS’s commitment to supporting\u00a0<\/span>the Sustainable Development Goals<\/span><\/em>\u00a0(SDGs), specifically point 4 on Quality Education, point 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and point 17 on Partnerships to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals.\u00a0<\/span>(ITS Public Relations)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
