Tim Barunastra ITS berhasil mempertahankan prestasinya dengan meraih predikat Grand Champion pada ajang International RoboBoat Competition (IRC) 2026 yang digelar di Sarasota, Florida, Amerika Serikat selama enam hari, mulai Kamis (19\/2) lalu.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Menghadapi 36 tim dari 10 negara, Tim Barunastra ITS tampil sangat impresif dengan menyapu kategori utama. Tim riset kapal autonomous ini sukses meraih Juara 1 Autonomy Challenge, Juara 1 Design and Documentation, serta sabet penghargaan Best Technical Design Report. Raihan tersebut menjadikan Tim Barunastra ITS sebagai satu-satunya tim yang menguasai kategori inti pada kompetisi kapal otonom tingkat dunia tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Ajang bergengsi ini dikenal sebagai arena adu kecanggihan Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) atau kapal tanpa awak yang mampu bermanuver dan menuntaskan misi secara mandiri. Sejumlah universitas raksasa teknologi dunia seperti Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Queen\u2019s University hingga Georgia Institute of Technology turut ambil bagian dalam kompetisi ini, sehingga semakin mengukuhkan ketatnya persaingan yang dihadapi Tim Barunastra ITS.<\/p>\n<p>Keberhasilan ini tidak terlepas dari performa kapal prototipe Nala Ares Mark II yang dirancang Tim Barunastra ITS untuk menjawab tema kompetisi tahun ini, yakni Storm Response: Technology in Action for Recovery and Relief. Integrasi sistem navigasi cerdas, algoritma pengambilan keputusan adaptif, serta arsitektur perangkat lunak yang teruji menjadi fondasi utama dominasi tim dalam perhelatan tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Dosen Pembina Tim Barunastra ITS Rudy Dikairono ST MT menilai capaian tersebut membuktikan daya saing mahasiswa ITS di level global. Persaingan yang dihadapi tidak hanya berasal dari dalam negeri, tetapi juga dari perguruan tinggi terkemuka Amerika, Eropa, dan Asia. \u201cMahasiswa ITS mampu bersaing sejajar dengan universitas besar dunia,\u201d tegas Rudy yang turut mendampingi tim saat berlomba.<\/p>\n<p>Lebih lanjut, Rudy menyoroti tingginya semangat dan dedikasi anggota tim dalam riset serta inovasi. Ketua Tim Barunastra ITS Davin Abhinaya Briet menuturkan bahwa kompetisi tersebut tidak hanya berfokus pada penyelesaian misi, tetapi juga menjadi ruang belajar kolaborasi global bagi pengembangan ASV. \u201cKompetisi ini bukan hanya lomba, tetapi juga membangun komunitas pengembang ASV,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n<p>Perjalanan menuju gelar Grand Champion pun tidak ditempuh dengan mudah. Berbagai pengorbanan waktu, tenaga, dan pikiran menjadi bagian dari proses panjang yang dijalani seluruh anggota tim.
