Pasalnya, hari ini diselenggarakan beberapa kegiatan di ITS. Salah satunya adalah kegiatan yang diselenggarakan di Jurusan Matematika FMIPA ITS ini. OMITS 2011 kali ini terbilang unik. Karena ajang olimpiade kali ini tidak hanya melibatkan siswa-siswi SMP sederajat atau SMA sederajat saja, tapi juga untuk pertama kalinya melibatkan pelajar-pelajar SD sederajat.<\/p>\n<p>Bisa dibilang, Himatika ITS sukses mencapai targetnya pada tahun kelima penyelengaraan olimpiade ini. Target tersebut disesuaikan dengan tahun. Terhitung ada 2080 tim yang berkompetisi merebutkan hadiah total 32 juta rupiah. Artinya, ada 4160 peserta yang ikut karena setiap tim beranggotakan dua peserta. Selain itu, hadiah lainnya adalah Piala Mendiknas, Piala Rektor, dan Piala Gubernur.<\/p>\n<p>Peserta terbagi menjadi 26 tempat rayon dan satu rayon <em>online<\/em>. Peserta yang berada di daerah jauh dari rayon seperti Aceh, Kalimantan, Papua, dan sebagainya bisa mengikuti olimpiade via <em>online<\/em>. OMITS kali ini tidak hanya menarik minat pelajar dalam negeri saja. Sempat beberapa waktu yang lalu, pihak panitia dihubungi oleh beberapa pelajar dari Malaysia yang ingin mendaftar.<\/p>\n<p>Walaupun tidak ada batasan dalam hal warga negara, panitia masih belum bisa menerima mereka terlebih dahulu. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Karena kami merasa belum mampu memfasilitasi mereka,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ungkap Sholik selaku ketua panitia kegiatan tersebut. Selanjutnya, dari 2080 tim tersebut akan diseleksi menjadi 138 tim yang akan lolos ke babak semifinal. 38 tim untuk tingkat SD, 50 tim untuk tingkat SMP, dan 50 tim untuk tingkat SMA. Hasil babak penyisihan akan diumumkan pada tanggal&nbsp; 8 Februari 2011 di situs <a href=&quot;http:\/\/www.omits-himatika.net\/&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot; title=&quot;1&quot;>www.omits-himatika.net<\/a> mulai pukul 00.00 WIB.<\/p>\n<p>Semifinal dan final secara berturut-turut akan diselenggarakan pada tanggal 19 dan 20 Februari 2011. Selain semifinal dan final, di hari yang sama juga akan dilangsungkan beberapa kegiatan lain yang dikemas dalam kegiatan besar tersebut.
