ITS Campus, ITS News \u2014<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Risks in quality improvement projects often lead to inefficiencies and cost overruns. To address this issue, Dr. Wiwik Sulistiyowati, ST, MT, a researcher from the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering\u00a0<\/span>at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS),<\/span><\/a>\u00a0presented an innovative risk management framework to minimize failure and improve project quality.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In her graduation dissertation, Wiwik explained that every quality improvement project in the industrial sector carries the potential risk of failure. This can lead to cost overruns, inefficiencies, and even decreased customer satisfaction. She believes that in addition to technical methods, quality improvement must also be accompanied by structured risk management. “With proper risk management, quality improvement projects can be more focused, efficient, and deliver maximum results,” she said.<\/p>\n

To address these challenges, Wiwik designed a framework\u00a0<\/span>that<\/span><\/em>\u00a0combines various approaches. These include the ISO 31000 standard, the POAC (\u00a0<\/span>Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling<\/span><\/em>\u00a0) management cycle, and the DMAIC (\u00a0<\/span>Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control<\/span><\/em>\u00a0) method. This framework also incorporates\u00a0<\/span>Structural Equation Modeling\u2013Partial Least Squares<\/span><\/em>\u00a0(SEM-PLS) and\u00a0<\/span>Importance-Performance Analysis<\/span><\/em>\u00a0(IPA) to identify critical project success factors.<\/span><\/p>\n

This integrative framework is not just a theoretical concept but is also ready to be applied in the industrial world. This approach helps companies reduce the risk of failure, accelerate the improvement process, and increase customer satisfaction. ” This\u00a0<\/span>framework<\/span><\/em>\u00a0can be used not only in the manufacturing sector, but also in service industries that require continuous quality improvement,” added the Sidoarjo native.<\/span><\/p>\n

With this framework, the national industry is expected to increase its competitiveness amidst global competition while strengthening sustainable efficiency.<\/span><\/p>\n

Concluding her dissertation, Wiwik emphasized that this academic achievement marks the beginning of a broader opportunity for contributions across various research fields.
