More than 11 thousand participants of the healthy walk as part of the opening of the 65th ITS Anniversary were officially released by ITS Chancellor Prof Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

ITS Campus, ITS News \u2014\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0officially kicked off its 65th Anniversary celebrations on Sunday (September 14). Through fun walks, free healthcare services, and tree planting, ITS affirmed its commitment to continuously spreading goodness and encouraging its academic staff to contribute to creating a sustainable impact on society.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In his remarks, ITS Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MSc, Eng, PhD, emphasized the crucial role of academic institutions in bringing about real change. Bambang stated that the anniversary commemoration is not merely a ceremonial event, but rather a momentum to benefit the community and the surrounding environment. “This celebration also serves as a platform for ITS to sow the seeds of goodness, especially for the community around campus,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

In line with this spirit, tree planting was one of the main agenda items in the celebration, which coincided with ITS’s 13th Lustrum. The activity, which began with the planting of two pule trees, marked ITS’s commitment to supporting the\u00a0<\/span>net-zero emissions<\/span><\/em>\u00a0target . This action also demonstrated its support for\u00a0<\/span>Sustainable Development Goals<\/span><\/em>\u00a0(SDGs) Point 13, which addresses climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n

This effort, Bambang continued, will continue in October with the planting of around 200 trees. This brings the hope that each growing root will strengthen ITS’s legacy of benefit to the environment and future generations. “The majority of the trees to be planted will be fruit trees, so that the results can be enjoyed together,” he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond focusing on environmental issues, ITS also offers various social programs that directly impact the community. One example is a free health checkup attended by over 750 participants, both from the ITS family and the general public. The services available range from blood sugar, cholesterol, and eye health checks to acupuncture and doctor consultations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahmad Naufal, one of the participating students, expressed his appreciation for the service. Naufal admitted he often worries about his health, but hasn’t had time to get checked due to his busy schedule. “Through this service, I can feel ITS’s commitment to the well-being of its students and the general public,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Dies Natalis celebration walk, attended by over 11,000 participants, also utilized the main\u00a0<\/span>spine<\/span><\/em>\u00a0route connecting Grha Sepuluh Nopember ITS with various departments. This route is expected to encourage a walking culture among ITS students, thereby reducing reliance on motorized vehicles on campus. This initiative also supports SDG 3, which focuses on creating a healthy and prosperous life.<\/span><\/p>\n

During this fun walk, participants were also required to bring their own\u00a0<\/span>tumblers<\/span><\/em>\u00a0or water bottles to reduce plastic waste. To that end, refillable water gallons were provided for participants at several points throughout the event area. This also supports the achievement of SDG 6, which focuses on clean water and adequate sanitation<\/span><\/p>\n

To further encourage the enthusiasm of both the academic community and the general public for this fun walk, hundreds of attractive prizes were offered as door prizes. Equally enticing were three grand prizes, a pilgrimage to the Umrah pilgrimage, won by two ITS students and one ITS education staff member.<\/span><\/p>\n

Going forward, Bambang ensured that more activities will be held as part of the Dies Natalis series, in line with the university’s slogan: “Create, Innovate, Impact.” Through these various events, ITS is committed to continuing to present work that not only has academic value but also has a real impact on society and the environment.\u00a0<\/span>(ITS Public Relations)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
