The ITS Robotics Team competed and successfully won 16 awards at the FIRA Roboworld Cup 2025 in South Korea<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

ITS Campus, ITS News \u2014 <\/b>The Robotics Team from the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> has once again brought home impressive achievements at an international competition. This time, it was through the Federation of International Robot Association (FIRA) Roboworld Cup 2025 competition held at Exco, Daegu, South Korea, from August 11 to 15, 2025.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

ITS Robotics Team Coordinator Muhtadin ST MT explained that FIRA is a non-profit organization that creates potential opportunities for young people, aiming to advance the robotics industry worldwide. “This event serves as a platform for researchers to exchange ideas and feedback in developing the robotics industry,” he said.<\/p>\n

The ITS lecturer of the humanoid robot team, Ichiro, said that the ITS Robotics Team brought two teams to compete in this event, namely Iris and Ichiro. He continued that there were three competition categories, namely autonomous car robots, adult-sized humanoid robots, and kid-sized humanoid robots. “In the autonomous car category, we only sent the Iris Team,” he said.<\/p>\n

In the autonomous car category, ITS won 1st place in the Autonomous Car Challenge Physics Pro, 1st place in the Autonomous Car Challenge Race category, and 2nd place in the Autonomous Car Challenge Urban category. “In the autonomous car category, we combined the technology we have in the RAISA and i-Car robots with several adjustments,” said the ITS lecturer from the Department of Computer Engineering<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Not only Iris, the Ichiro Team, which competed in the humanoid adult size category, won 1st place in the United Challenge, 1st place in the Hurocup Adult Size All-round, 1st place in the Hurocup Adult Size manipulation category, 1st place in the Hurocup Adult Size hybrid category, and 1st place in the Hurocup Adult Size Mobility category. “This achievement was attained through the students’ perseverance in developing their ideas in the field of robotics,” said Muhtadin proudly.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that there were two teams from Ichiro in the kid-size humanoid category. Both teams also won second place in the Hurocup Kid Size All-round category, third place in the Hurocup Kid Size All-round category, second place in the Hurocup Kid Size manipulation category, third place in the Hurocup Kid Size hybrid category, third place in the Hurocup Kid Size mobility category, second place in the Hurocup Kid Size mobility category, second place in the Hurocup Kid Size hybrid category, and third place in the Hurocup Kid Size manipulation category.<\/p>\n

This ITS Electrical Engineering<\/a> alumnus revealed that the ITS Robotics Team has been conducting research and developing innovations since February 2025. It began with the submission of a scientific paper containing the specifications of the robots used and the materials used in the robot mechanics, followed by an evaluation of the robots’ development during trials.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Muhtadin explained that in the humanoid robot category, the ITS Ichiro Team created a robot by strengthening the materials in its mechanics and developing software so that the robot could adapt to the conditions that would occur. “We added a lot of image processing so that the robot could be more adaptive to the conditions that occur,” he said.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, in the autonomous car category, Team Iris successfully developed complex robot mechanics so that the robot could maneuver skillfully. Meanwhile, in terms of electricity, the battery model was designed to be simple so that it would not be difficult to replace. “We made the robot system as similar as possible to a vehicle of its actual size,” concluded Muhtadin.<\/p>\n

The development of robots at the FIRA Roboworld Cup is part of ITS’s efforts to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/a>, particularly point nine on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and point 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities.
